Winning the best 2023 Strata Management Business Award, for medium business, was an incredibly proud moment given the challenges we faced in 2023. I'm so proud of the team and how they stepped up to navigate the obstacles thrown at us last year. Starting 2023 with our two senior strata managers unexpectedly off work for various health reasons, and missing the first half of the year, and our senior accounts manager also off for the first few months of the year for health reasons, it really meant the rest of the team needed to dig deep and rise above the challenges. It was not easy, and not all of the team survived, with an increased turnover due to the phyco-social hazards that are unfortunately becoming the norm in strata. A key focus we needed to adopt across the leadership team was cultivating a resilient and agile workforce, and it was only in second half of the year that this started to pay off. The saying, “the cream always rises to the top” proved true, with several of our assistant managers that had been with us for a couple of years and learning under our training platforms, able to take the next step and transition into successful managers. This year is opposite to last year, we have started the year with a couple of senior managers joining the team and now have 7 strata managers with between 3 to +20 years’ experience and a new generation now starting out on their strata journey, bring on 2024!!

Facilitator | Author | Creating adult-adult cultures that unleash accountability, engagement and innovation
This photo captures a moment of reflection over Canary Wharf on my return to London from Sweden, where I spent four days with my esteemed colleagues at Tuff Leadership Training. I am grateful for the incredible colleagues and friends I have at Tuff. As I reminisce about living in London and working in Canary Wharf, it feels like a lifetime has passed, not just chronologically but also in my personal growth. This is in no small part that when we get together, it's not just about training and learning; it's a constant journey of self-improvement. I won't lie; it can be brutally hard to work somewhere with such a high bar for the quality of the training. Especailly when it is recognised that the quality comes from a complex interaction of context, the 'being' of the trainer and the unleashing of the choicefulness of the trainee. But it is inspiring and rewarding to work with incredible colleagues - many of whom have been in this crucible for many years. Tuff and its founders are way too humble to sing their own praises but as far as I am concerned, the feedback I receive and the challenges set out for me are unique in my career. All of this leads me to two conclusions: - I am incredibly lucky - most people have a challenging job, some people have a job they love, but I get to have job that is transformational by default - I want to share this with others and, since Tuff can't employ the whole world, I am newly inspired to push leaders to their limits, provided they are willing to embrace the challenge, too.

February's Catch of the Month: Caitlyn Alford, M.A. 🌟 Exciting Adventure and Team Building at Catching Leadership! 🌟 Embarking on a journey from Raleigh, NC, our Operations Manager & Consultant, Caitlyn Alford recently traveled up to Iowa for a client facilitation with Catching Leadership. Following a successful client session on Wednesday, the work trip led to a unique opportunity for team bonding. Instead of a traditional post-meeting debrief, Michael Leytem (our founder) had a different plan in mind—to explore the picturesque Driftless area of Iowa for a spot of fly fishing. The adventure unfolded with hours of casting, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and teamwork. Despite the lack of immediate success, they persevered, making adjustments, and learning from each cast. As the sun dipped below the horizon, just when it seemed like it was time to pack up, a breakthrough moment occurred. Against all odds, with a dry fly on the first day of February, Caitlyn reeled in her first-ever fly fish catch—a small, but mighty, rainbow trout. The shared joy and celebration of this accomplishment echoed the ethos of Catching Leadership—a business that values collaboration and resilience. At Catching Leadership, we don't just catch fish; we catch moments, memories, and the spirit of authenticity that sets us apart. Here's to many more adventures and shared triumphs in the journey ahead! 🎣🌟 #TeamBuilding #CatchingLeadership #FlyFishingSuccess
