This is a thought-provoking post, but as an entrepreneur, and someone who loves entrepreneurship in general, I have strong feelings about business development. You can read my comment to the original post below, but here is the bottom line: In a world where marketing is inescapable and AI is going to learn light years faster than I can, everything but a personal interaction with me becomes noise. As an example, consider an artist. When anyone without art training or experience can use AI to create "art", the value of art changes in a way that is its own ethical and cultural discussion. And yet, if I have a personal interaction with an artist, that relationship or rapport, no matter how brief or virtual, will likely become the reason I purchase art. Business development and marketing(media) should be everyone's jobs. Even the most recently hired employee can bring value to the business by their in-person interactions with clients and potential clients, and the way the employee uses social media. #lawyer #businessdevelopment #entrepreneurship

Howdy Y'all! Today, we've made substantial progress in shaping the vision and strategic plans for the Haunted Texas Theme Park and USA History Preservation Project. Here’s a summary of our key activities and the outcomes: #InvestorEngagement and #FundingStrategy: We developed comprehensive materials and strategies aimed at attracting potential investors and venture capital firms. This included creating investor-focused content that highlights the unique aspects of the park and the potential for high returns on investment. #CHIPSActFundingOpportunities: We elaborated on how the Haunted Texas Theme Park aligns with the goals of the CHIPS Act, detailing the educational, technological, and infrastructure aspects that qualify us for potential funding. This included plans for semiconductor manufacturing training and research facilities that could benefit from federal support. #StrategicPartnerships: We discussed potential collaborations with major entities like #ElonMusk's, pending, #RobertSmith (pending response) with #VistaEquityPartners, #Samsung, (pending response) and the City of #Taylor, TX. Strategies were devised to engage these partners effectively, focusing on their potential roles and contributions to the project. #OperationalPlanning and #TeamBuilding: Restructured one of the company’s and moved it from GA to TX. We outlined a team-building strategy, including an initial team meeting to foster introductions and understanding of roles. This is aimed at strengthening our team cohesion and ensuring everyone is aligned with our project goals. #ContentCreation and #Marketing: We crafted several content pieces, including social media posts and blog articles, to boost our online presence and engage our audience. These materials are designed to generate interest and excitement around the park, emphasizing its innovative and educational aspects. #Community and #EconomicImpact: We prepared communications and materials that highlight the positive impacts of the Haunted Texas Theme Park on the local community and economy. This is crucial for gaining local support and demonstrating the benefits of the project to stakeholders. We are ending the day with a clearer path toward securing funding, engaging key partners, and mobilizing our marketing and community outreach efforts. The groundwork laid today is vital for moving forward with confidence and clarity, ensuring that every step we take brings us closer to making #HauntedTexasThemePark a #virtualreality. 😊 Thanks for checking in! Research careers are probably the most unstable and diverse careers of all, but the uncertainty around it doesn't necessarily need to lead to stress. If addressed well, the lack of fixed career paths can make researchers more open to opportunities beyond the obvious ones. This helps R&D companies, governments and other organisations find the talent they need. The second publication of our Mutual Learning Exercise series, inspired by the exchange in Stockholm between representatives from ministeries in Science & Innovation in over 15 European countries, focused exactly on that. Gareth O'Neill Conor O'Carroll Fulvio Esposito and Juergen Janger collaborated on this. Dario Capezzuto and Annamaria Nemeth facilitated and supported the whole process. My take home messages at the time? 🔔 Develop a national strategy and involve all stakeholders (universities, researchers, recruiters, science parks, international houses and employers) 🔔 Be consistent in funding and strategy 🔔 Continue to be inspired and to learn (whether you are a researcher or play a different role in the process of career development) https://lnkd.in/ec8vM_y4

Navigating life after graduation isn't easy! 🎓 It is a big switch from being a student, where the institution is designed for your development, to a working professional where the expectation is to add value to the company. At Living Optics I was able to get a bit of both, where I was able to present the work done at the company last week at the London Imaging Meeting and also listen to keynotes from other researchers and engineers. Karl, My dear friend, once upon a time I would have been champing at the bit for the opportunity to work with you to increase MIT’s reach to represent in students, faculty, and staff a population that reflects the face of the nation. Before I could promote this opportunity, do you (and MIT) have plans in place to fund this position in the event that the incoming administration makes good on the threat Trump promised to cut federal funding for any school or program pushing Critical Race Theory or gender ideology on our children? (Critical race theory refers to academic frameworks that teach systemic racism is embedded in American society.) Trump has also spoken out against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) measures at colleges and universities across the country. “It's absolutely accurate and fair to say that the Trump administration will be looking to penalize any institution, for administering DEI programs,” said Josh Cowen “How much money they can remove, how hard they can make life bureaucratically, those are still slightly open questions, but they're absolutely going to try that.” In addition to the reality that MIT might soon terminate all DEI initiatives in order not to lose all federal funding for research grants, Pell grants and federally backed student loans, do you have any evidence that MIT will alter its policies to curtail hate speech and antisemitism on campus? You know how many of my protégés I’ve promoted to achieve academic greatness in aeronautics and astronautics at MIT. And, until MIT adopts anti-hate policies including reversing its policy to not endorse the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, and chooses to remove all students, faculty and staff that promote hate, and decides to refuse donations from foreign governments that support terror (Qatar) and bans terror supported campus organizations like: 1)Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP): A pro-Palestinian activism organization for college students in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand 2)Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP): A campus group involved in anti-Israel activity 3)Students for a Democratic Society (SDS): A campus group involved in anti-Israel activity 4)Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA): A campus group involved in anti-Israel activity 5)Dissenters: A campus group involved in anti-Israel activity Until MIT adopts an official position against the antisemitic “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” (BDS) movement … until that time I will not offer to join you in this endeavor. I will shift my efforts to help non-radicalized students (and their parents,) faculty, and staff and financial supporters to consider institutions like Brandeiss and Technion, where it is still safe to be Jewish on campus.
