In Governance Uncovered ep. 60: Prakash Bhattarai, PhD and Ellen Lust discuss local-level quotas in #Nepal, particularly quotas for women and #Dalits. The discussion is based on Prakash's research evaluating the impact of Nepal's 2015 constitution, which introduced a federal governance system with quotas to ensure women, Dalits, and other marginalized groups are represented in all levels of government. Prakash is the Executive Director at the Center for Social Change, a non-profit think tank based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The center works on the changing sociopolitical dynamics of Nepalese society through research, education, advocacy, and community mobilization. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/dUtrZ3ws

Unspent CSR funds hit five year high in FY 23 In FY23, unspent Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds reached a five-year high of ₹1,475 crore, highlighting a growing gap between allocated and actual CSR spending. On average, each company spent ₹11.29 crore on CSR, which is a 4% decrease from FY22. Notably, companies spent only 1.91% of their net profits on CSR, below the prescribed 2% minimum. This trend raises concerns about the effectiveness and commitment towards CSR initiatives in India. It's a call for companies to reassess their CSR strategies and ensure that these crucial funds are utilized for impactful community development.

My Journey of Service and Hope for Balochistan My name is Zia Khan, and I come from a province that has long faced deprivation. But instead of dwelling on the hardships or pointing fingers, I chose to take action. Life gave me a unique challenge when I contracted polio at the age of 3 in 1983. Rather than seeing it as a weakness, I transformed it into my strength. One thing I’ve learned is that a life worth living is one that helps others. With that belief, I began my volunteer journey. On August 14, 2010, by the grace of Allah, we founded a small group called Quetta Online, which has since grown into Balochistan Online. Together, we have dedicated ourselves to serving our community through several life-changing initiatives: 1. Blood Donations – Saving lives through the gift of blood. 2. Disability Advocacy – Empowering individuals with disabilities to live with dignity. 3. Free Education – Opening the doors of knowledge for those in need. 4. Cancer Campaigns – Supporting the construction of cancer hospitals and providing financial aid for patients. 5. Tree Plantation and Cleanliness Drives – Building a greener, healthier environment for future generations. 6. Women’s Welfare – Addressing the struggles of women and advocating for their rights. 7. Youth Engagement – Inspiring and guiding young people towards positive activities and growth. 8. Peace and Brotherhood – Working tirelessly to foster unity and harmony in Balochistan. 9. Youth Leadership – Nurturing leadership skills in the next generation. These efforts are only a glimpse of what we can achieve when we come together for a common purpose. I invite each of you to join me in making a difference. Let’s pledge to serve with love, compassion, and a sincere heart. Together, we can eliminate the deprivations and bring about positive change in the lives of countless people. Let’s unite for a better, stronger, and more peaceful Balochistan. #ServeHumanity #PeopleOfBalochistan #UnityForPeace #EmpowerTheDisabled #GreenQuetta #YouthForChange #StrongerTogether #BalochistanRising #PolioWarrior #TogetherWeCan #PlantForFuture #WomenEmpowerment #PositiveChange #ZiaKhanQta #Balochistan #Quetta #QuettaOnlineVolunteers #SocialChange #volunteering

Non-profits, NGOs incuding the CSOs might have beautiful ideas for solving social issues. Why do they failed? In my years of professional experience within the development space, in project management, I realized it is not just sitting in the office with program team to design a project; Understanding the demography of the social issues and putting the beneficiaries at the center of your program design is paramount to making impact; I realize, stakeholder engagement is not just at the implementation stage; At the IC-PAD, I learnt to work with potential beneficiaries/communities to design program or intervention for them, this has given me more success and ability to institute robust M & E mechanism and sustainability through community ownership. I therefore, build one big family from design to closeout in my projects. #Program #ProjectManagement #Nonprofit #NGO #CSO #Peacebuilding #Conflicttransformation #CVE #PVE #Gender
