The MechLOK-R swivels for 24 hours, achieving target depth, offshore Norway. Our latest case study highlights the MechLOK-R’s deployment in a complex multi-lateral well offshore, Norway. Faced with the challenge of landing lower screen drop-offs in a 2,784m horizontal open hole, the MechLOK-R was utilised for its advanced swivelling capabilities. A fleet of 500 precision-engineered tires supports the transportation of one of the world’s largest hydrocracking reactors, showcasing engineering excellence in motion. A hydrocracking reactor, one of the largest pieces of industrial equipment, can weigh thousands of tons, making transportation a massive challenge. To move these gigantic reactors, specialized transporters with up to 500 tires are used. These multi-wheeled vehicles, known as Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), are designed to distribute the load evenly and ensure stability during transit. Each tire contributes to bearing the reactor’s immense weight, preventing damage to roads and infrastructure. SPMTs are often controlled remotely, allowing precise maneuvering in tight spaces.
