HILTI Fan Story - Second Meeting The second stage of the interview comprised several events, one of which was entirely new to me – spending several hours with an experienced employee at their workplace. In my opinion, this practice is one of the best ways to allow a candidate not only to observe potential job responsibilities in action but also to experience the department's environment, the style of interaction with customers, partners, and colleagues. It also provides an opportunity to address important questions, not just to the potential manager, who might depict the situation in the most positive way, but to people who perform the job on a daily basis. My conversation with Vitaly was incredibly valuable. He not only showed me the role of the department and each team member but also delved into the details of the daily processes, including interaction with colleagues, the ERP system, and the product catalogue. More importantly, he shared his perspective on the corporate culture and the company’s values. Vitaly provided numerous examples of how HILTI resonates positively with his view of a good employer and creates a sense of belonging. Alongside the common components of the compensation package offered by large companies such as a permanent labor contract, medical insurance, and performance bonuses, the highlight of Vitaly’s narrative was the annual corporate event – Kick Off. He spoke about this event with great enthusiasm, particularly about the recent one that took place in Sochi just a couple of months ago. I can confidently say that the opportunity to experience the workplace firsthand played an equally, if not more, important role in the subsequent final decision-making process, alongside my conversation with my future manager.
