Last week's H-GAC's 2024 Livable Centers Series Roundtable 2 was a fantastic space to learn and share in-depth knowledge about human-centered metrics in transportation projects. During the event, Asakura Robinson's Ranjan Roy had the opportunity to speak on the metrics of successful engagement. A BIG thank you to the H-GAC team for making this enlightening event possible!

I agree with Skye Guo and am also honored to represent WHO in this important event. In 2011, I was part of a Swedish delegation that visited Washington, D.C., to explore collaboration between Sweden and the U.S. on Vision Zero. Thirteen years later, it is fantastic to see the progress made and to be part of this Vision Zero course jointly organized by the Swedish Vision Zero Academy and Johns Hopkins University. The implementation of the UN's Second Decade of Action for Road Safety will require a strong understanding of Vision Zero and the Safe System approach, which ensures that all road users around the world have the right to safe mobility. I hope that Sweden and the U.S. will continue to share their knowledge and expertise broadly, enabling other countries to benefit from their successful strategies and approaches in promoting road safety and achieving the Agenda 2030 goals for road safety globally. #RoadSafety #SafeMobility #Transport #UnitedNations
Day 1 at the first U.S. Vision Zero Academy sponsored by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Trafikverket Swedish Transport Administration, ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals, FIA, AAA for traffic safety, in Washington DC. Honored to represent District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Traffic Engineering Branch along with other DDOT folks; and glad to talk with many safety leaders, experts, practitioners, and advocators around the United States. Look forward to learning more throughout this week! Jeffrey Paul Michael, JHU Christine E. Mayeur, AICP , DDOT Matts-Åke Belin , WHO Jeff Lindley , ITE Natalie Draisin ,FIA David Yang ,AAA

Last month, SWOV researchers Agnieszka Stelling (conference chair), Wouter Van den Berghe, Letty Aarts, and Sander van der Kint participated in the Trendline General Assembly. The Trendline project is an EU-supported project and aims to develop and implement standardized methodologies for data collection and analysis for key performance indicators (KPIs) in road safety. Hosted by CDV - Transport Research Centre in Prague on February 22 and 23, the General Assembly brought together over 50 participants from the Trendline project. Throughout the two days, attendees engaged in more than 20 presentations and discussions. Topics spanned from the current status of data collection on road safety KPIs across different countries, to progress on new experimental indicators under consideration, and the integration of road safety KPIs into national strategies and action plans. For more information on the General Assembly, visit: https://lnkd.in/g9ysrg75 Looking back, it was an enriching experience for all participants, providing valuable insights into the current state of road safety data collection and analysis. Looking forward, the assembly inspired confidence and anticipation for the next steps to be undertaken. The final outcomes of the Trendline project are expected to be delivered by mid-2025. For those interested in learning more about Trendline, visit the project website: https://lnkd.in/emnNQV2H Additional information on Baseline, a predecessor to the Trendline project, can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gMDFER37 #RoadSafety #EUProjects #TrendlineProject #GeneralAssembly #SWOV #KeyPerformanceIndicators

A recent study I conducted with the GIZ ProSoil project on the co-creation of agroecology revealed a significant finding: most producers receive information about agroecology primarily from agricultural extension workers or their peers. Interactions and knowledge exchanges with researchers, however, are notably weak or even non-existent for the producers. I hope this first #KM4AgD24 Cafe on the theme of "Bridging the gap between Research, Policy and Practice through Indigenous Knowledge" will help fuel my reflections and provide avenues for further thought. #KM #Agroecology #GIZ

'A referendum to complete the meaning of Australia'. A referendum to: 1. Recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first people of Australia. 'Belated but crucially important' to quote Noel Pearson. 2. Make a binding commitment that there is a body to represent First Nations people. Simply giving a seat at the table, and one that can't be removed at the whim of government. 3. Create a body can make representations on behalf of matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Don't listen to the scaremongering about this body - it is for matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - and it is to make representations - not laws, not policy, representations on behalf of a group of people who deserve to have their voice heard and to directly ADVISE all levels of government about laws and policies that affect their lives. I vividly remember the 8th amendment referendum campaign in Ireland and one of the biggest challenges for individuals at that time being to simply start the conversation with their families, friends, and peers on a topic deemed too controversial, too political, too sensitive. My personal challenge to myself is to start having that conversation - and I hope on something so significant everyone else will do the same because this is a long overdue chance to prioritise equality and justness for all Australians. #voicetoparliament
The Voice What does it mean for you? What does it mean for our traditional owners? What does it mean for Australia? I urge you to invest 30 mins of your time to hear this speech from Noel Pearson. It educated me on a few things. (Video courtesy of the Clean Energy Council #ACES2023 Gala Dinner) https://lnkd.in/gF3iWTYD
