Delighted to have engaged with Adrien Mugnier in the EcoVadis #Sustain2024 conference, a key platform for sustainability #SupplyChain #SSC dialogues. 💡 Top insights from the sessions: 1️⃣ Three driving forces in sustainable #procurement: #regulation (#CSRD, SEC ESCRD, #LkSG with a nod to Cindy David 😉), #sustainability, and #GenAI (cheers to Geoffroy Petit 😉). 2️⃣ The surge in regulatory and reporting frameworks implies that non-financial reporting will eventually need to be as structured as today’s financial reporting, increasing the need for robust #impact measurement capabilities, reinforcing my belief in the value of the I Care by BearingPoint project. 3️⃣ In procurement, buyers must broaden their scope to include regulation, sustainability, and technology, positioning them as key players in addressing supply chain impacts, which are significant for most firms. 4️⃣ #Data quality is critical for action. However, waiting for perfect data isn’t an option. Major hurdles include collecting, matching, and aggregating data. 5️⃣ Severine Thery gave an inspiring talk: addressing #livingwages in supply chains is essential before requesting suppliers to cut GHG emissions. Ecological transition is unattainable without social justice. 6️⃣ EcoVadis offers a robust framework for sectoral initiatives to set unified supplier requirements while adhering to antitrust laws. 7️⃣ The Carbon Action module from EcoVadis can now operate independently from the rating solution, facilitating engagement with suppliers on Scope 3 emissions reduction. 8️⃣ EcoVadis Vitals, available at no cost to suppliers, also encourages involvement with smaller suppliers. While individually less impactful, their collective significance is too great to overlook. 9️⃣ Despite #CSDDD likely being put on hold by the European Parliament, companies shouldn’t be deterred from beginning their sustainability due diligence journey, as it seems to be the direction of global regulatory trends.
