We are excited to share our latest research, published in Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics: "Temporary Target versus Suspended Insulin Infusion in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Using the MiniMed 780G Advanced Closed-Loop Hybrid System During Aerobic Exercise". Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eZAHnHqe Our study compares two strategies, Temporary Target (TT) vs. Suspension of Insulin Infusion (SII), during aerobic exercise in adults with type 1 diabetes. We found that TT led to better glycemic control in the early post-exercise phase while maintaining safety across all phases. Healthy competition in insulin patch pumps right now. Nice to have a reminder ahead of Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) next week: - Medtronic Diabetes and Tandem Diabetes Care both have devices coming, Tandem using AMF's Sigi - Tandem to launch tubeless version of Mobi first. Envision users might switch between tubeless/tubed during the day (I find this hard to imagine) - Insulet Corporation growing well - thanks I'm sure to long presence in the space. - No mention of embecta's recent 510k submission, or some of the other emerging competitors, though. Who else has been missed? CGM connectivity is now the standard but it's clear that a single device makes sense for patient convenience. We've experienced the unique challenges of patch pumps and CGM first-hand and look forward to enable the next-generation. Diabetes patients know that accurate glucose monitoring is critical for their health, and that it is a delicate dance to be able to maintain optimal blood sugar levels. Roche is pioneering a new type of continuous glucose monitoring that leverages AI-based predictive algorithms to predict blood sugar levels into the future. Patients leveraging this device would be able to focus on activities at hand without worrying about monitoring, a very nice quality of life improvement. Predictive monitoring could help with nighttime hypoglycemia as well, which has significant overall health implications. Peer-reviewed clinical trial and real world data publications provide meaningful efficacy and other proof points for the daily lived health experiences of people. 🎉 🎉 🎉 DT&T has just accepted "Recommendations for a Standardized Ambulatory Glucose Profile Report for Connected Insulin Pens". Recommendations for AID Reporting were published in March 2023, and we’ve been waiting for the connected insulin pen recommendations to follow. Big ole congrats to Gregg Simonson and Rich Bergenstal to making this happen. This was much needed as the "advent of connected insulin pens has generated an avalanche of digital insulin data, especially in the context of prandial- and multiple daily injection-insulin regimens" as per Howard Wolpert and William Polonsky, PhD, CDCES. One recommendation that I was particularly excited to see was around the use of terminology that is neutral, free of stigma, and less judgmental. For example, the phrase “days with bolus doses” was used instead of “missed bolus doses”. "This is a more neutral and less judgmental way to present this important information". You can read the full paper here:
