🏨 What is the right balance between building a consumer-facing brand vs scalable business model? Hotel brands take a long time to build and the scale benefits (brand recognition -> direct sales 💰💰💰) kick in only after achieving considerable hotel volume. Been thinking a lot about this, as Omena Hotels, the early leader in self-service lodging, stumbled when expanding internationally. Ben clearly succeeded with Graduate Hotels, as Hilton acquired them (not that I know how much OTA's were driving their sales). Here discussing the topic with Kasa’s Founder, Roman, that has built a really impressive business in a short time. Also want to flag what Niko’s team are doing with Bob W., an ambitious challenger growing out of Finland, heavily leaning into brand building. Finding the right balance between operational excellence, brand building, and investing in tech (buy vs build) has never been an easy equation ➕ ➖ ➗ 🟰.

To success you need to face challenges!!!!!!!!!! 🏨 Turning challenges into wins! Hotel Saint-Sulpice tackled some big hurdles this year—renovations, no full-time revenue team, and shifting markets. But with G3 RMS from IDeaS Revenue Solutions they've automated pricing, boosted occupancy, and saw a 1.5% jump in RevPAR (even during renos!). Now, their team has more time to focus on growth, not just rates. Proof that the right tech can make a difference! 💪 #RevenueManagement #HotelManagement #Hospitality

Enshittification case study #362: I had an elite status at Starwood hotels: check-in gift, room upgrades, 4pm checkout. Marriott acquires Starwood. A decade later, Marriott’s platinum level (which I haven’t reached) is roughly the same as my Starwood gold was before the acquisition.
