"We are too busy". Doing what? The same thing! How many of these need to happen before we quit the mindset of doing "business as usual" ? https://lnkd.in/g5qQ3amk ISG collapse 'devastating' for construction industry - BBC News. It could lead to other firms in the supply chain going under, a trade body says. The course for project success or failure is set much before it reaches the construction stage. You can have the world's best workforce out there in construction but if the upstream processes are not set right, this is bound to happen. Do you have the ability to assess that before you mobilize man, material and machinery? Do your teams have the motivation to build better, and maintain it? Find the answers and way to do this with our commitment to help the world build better, block by block - safely, smartly, and sustainably. The Built Environment, where construction projects have an annual turnover of $10trillion, after agriculture provides livelihood to the many on this planet. Each person who comes out here to work, deserves better. Challenge, innovate, question the norm. It's time we lift this up, stop the wasteful ways, and give attention to your team member or for that matter anyone who has a better way. We also have to harness the power of new age technology and techniques to improve this end-to-end!

A raft of bad news in recent media reports, either business failure related or significant profit erosion. And the best of construction businesses will continue to face such challenges perioidically in their journey - its a case of #RiskManagment. Good news is, the downside can be avoided - history has shown us what the root causes are. Bitter experience has taught me it’s all about the #3Ps : focus on the #RightProjects, back them with the #RightPeople and make sure you have the #RightProcesses (Terms, Controls and Checks) in place. #SustainableBusinessPractice Sounds so simple but a period of success or desperation, and then complacency can often open the door open to gaps… Get in touch if you need advise & support. https://lnkd.in/e7yDGa4g https://lnkd.in/e3AYyA6q https://lnkd.in/eJm8zHde

Barbour ABI releases its latest construction industry analysis, which highlights a continued positive trend in contract awards in Q1, suggesting the sector is looking to emerge from the doldrums of 2023. Construction contract rewards remained stable in March following a quarter which had showed a significant increase since the beginning of the year. The value of new contracts was 3% down in February and 1% down on the previous year but remained significantly above the last quarter of 2023. Notably, residential contracts were up 60% in February, returning to heights seen in January and were up 62% over the first quarter of the year. Barbour ABI Head of Business and Client Analytics, Ed Griffiths comments: “When looking across the first quarter of 2024 it has become clear that both the infrastructure and residential sectors have had strong starts to the year as businesses attempt to get projects off the ground, which is a positive signal the construction sector is attempting to emerge from the doldrums of last year. “Interestingly in March, we saw Residential and Infrastructure swapping positions in terms of leading overall contract awards value with £2.4bn and £2bn respectively. Together they are pushing the industry awards upwards.” https://lnkd.in/eT9YJ3Ug #construction #constructionindustry #analysis #marketdata #residential #contractawards #newcontracts #planningapplications

Growth at the expense of quality is not worth it. Why? Because cutting corners in construction never pays off. When you rush to expand, you might miss the most important details. And in commercial construction, every detail counts. A poorly executed project can lead to costly repairs down the road. And lead to safety issues, too. Clients trust us to deliver on our promises. But if we sacrifice quality, we sacrifice that trust. And trust, once lost, is hard to regain. True growth happens when you build something that lasts. Something that stands the test of time. Because it’s not about how fast you can finish. It’s about how well you can build. In the end, quality is what people remember. Growth is important, but not at any cost. It’s quality that truly defines our success. And this is the kind of growth that’s worth it for us. #saltcm #commercial #construction
