We want to help prevent as many people as possible from going to bed hungry or worrying about where their next meal will come from. We are currently supporting two villages: King Somborne and Stockbridge. Most of the rural villages have limited transport and have no local shop. We have had so many other villages requesting our help. They want to see the 'Travelling Pantry' visit their villages so that everyone can be supported and so do we, so we have launched this crowdfunder! Last December, Team Purple did what it does best – help others – this time by teaming up with FareShare, the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste. Thanks to team members spreading the word about what we do and helping others to join and earn too, we donated the equivalent of 132,000 meals to local charities and community groups – a truly impressive achievement. The great news is we’re teaming up with FareShare again this December. We’ll donate the equivalent of 100 meals to those in need via the charity for every new Partner who joins the team until the end of December. That means for each person that decides they might like to earn some extra money to pay off Christmas when the bills land in January, we’ll also be help stop people going hungry this winter. This is an amazing chance to beat last year’s record; so, *Would you like to boost your income? *Do you know anyone else who would like to boost theirs? *Would you like UW to donate 100 meals (£25 worth of meals) for an investment of just £10 and 20 minutes? Rebuilding Together Dutchess County continues to accept donations for the work we do… We focus on critical home repairs and accessibility modifications for neighbors in Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Please join us in supporting our cause as a central part of your mission this year. Those neighbors we have assisted reported feeling a restored sense of pride in their homes again. Prior to our support 86% of those neighbors reported having had trouble entering and exiting their homes - this is no longer a concern. In addition, nearly 70% planned to pass on their property to a family member, friend, or an important cause they wanted to support. The average annual household income of those whom we serve is just $24,916. Often this limited income must cover the needs of multiple individuals, including necessities like food and healthcare, aside from the essential home repairs, and safety needs. In Maricopa County, summer heat is deadly. A preliminary report from the Maricopa Association of Governments showed that 645 people died from heat-related illness in 2023, a 52% increase from 2022. As the temperature in the Valley rises to over 110°F, it's clear that action is needed now more than ever. It's simple: heat relief efforts and supplies save lives. In our fourth and final installment of how to help a street-involved neighbour, learn about and support local services! Many street-involved neighbours find shelter, food and care at local community agencies like YSM. You can help connect them to find support. 1. Learn about community agencies in your neighbourhood. Find out if they have referral cards you can share. 2. Become familiar with Toronto’s 3-1-1 or your community’s non-emergency services line. You can call them to connect neighbours to shelters and more. 3. Donate to or volunteer with a food bank, meal program or shelter in your community and on which street-involved neighbours rely. There are many ways to help hungry people, depending on your resources and location. Here are some ideas: 1. *Donate to food banks*: Food banks collect and distribute food to those in need. You can search for food banks in your area and donate non-perishable items or funds. 2. *Volunteer at a soup kitchen*: Soup kitchens provide meals for people who are struggling to afford food. You can volunteer your time to help serve meals or prepare food. 3. *Support food-related charities*: Consider donating to organizations that work to address hunger and food insecurity, such as Feeding America or the World Food Programme. 4. *Offer to buy groceries or meals*: If you know someone who is struggling to afford food, offer to buy them groceries or meals. 5. *Advocate for policies that address hunger*: You can contact your local representatives and express support for policies that address hunger
