The company commissioned Call & Nicholas (CNI), an international mining consulting firm that specializes in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, and hydrology, to conduct an independent review of the heap leach failure. A good limit blasting and wall control programme is critical to a successful slope design implementation. Successful limit blasting performance is highly dependent on a strict QA/QC programme, as can be accomplished from implementing a thorough drill and blast audit trial. The audit trial shown in the Figure focuses on ensuring good operational compliance to the blast designs, which in turn are dependent on geological and geotechnical data gathering programmes, such as shown in the Figure. #mining #miners #mines #Drilling #blasting

**#GreatWestern gears up to drill Oval #Copper-Gold Target in WA** - Great Western Exploration Limited has mobilized a drill rig for the Oval Copper-Gold Target at the #Yerrida North Project in Western Australia, with drilling expected to begin imminently. - The target was first identified through an EM survey by Rio Tinto in the late 1990s, showing EM conductivity and gravity highs, though previous drilling ceased 70m above the target. - A modern VTEM survey model from 2012 has refined the geological model, prompting Great Western to initiate a new drilling program of four #diamond drill-holes, each between 600m and 800m in depth. - The two-stage #drilling program will start with two holes to refine the geological model, with each hole taking approximately three weeks and assay results expected 6-8 weeks after completion. - The Oval and Oval South targets share geological similarities with Winu and Haverion deposits, and the company has received funding from WA's Exploration Incentive Scheme to support this initiative. #mining #mineralexploartion #mineralprocessing
