Teamwork + Energy = Success What started as a routine training session quickly turned into a push-up party! Our technicians brought their energy, skills, and, most importantly, their team spirit to the table—both in the field and during our training. Before the call, ask them to create a small presentation about: - What they learned this month - Which processes should be improved - How they think they can be improved Open communication and transparency -> Healthy culture and happy people

One day, during a training course with some (administrative type) people who aren’t used to working around our specialized population asked why all the operators were “angry all the time”. We had a discussion about the difference between “aggression” and “anger”. Often, misconceptions about the basic attributes and additudes of an organization can create situations where the “outsider” prematurely disenfranchises themselves by being judgemental rather than curious. When things are different, seek to understand why. Why are the presentations around you different? How do those qualities drive success in that setting/culture? Simply labeling and dealing in superficial observations is a great way to guarantee you won’t be accepted. Find ways to link to the constituent cultural elements or at least acknowledge you don’t understand.

I am super grateful to have spent last week working with a global team of super smart people on a safety/reliability project on the biggest deep fryer you can imagine. Not only did I see the potatoes go from the truck all the way through to french fries in boxes headed for McDonalds, I can report that the entire process smells absolutely delicious! A note about facilitation: It doesn't matter what sort of "learning" event is taking place, an experienced facilitator plays a key role. You've got to get people talking, keep people reasonably focused, cool their jets, light their fires, ask the helpful next question, and know when to get the heck out of the way. It's okay to let the "fire" burn on its own periodically - no need to keep stoking it. Use this time to document, organize, decide what's next, etc. Hope you're all having a great week!

Whether you have been working in your industry for 30 years or 3 months... Lessons can always be learned. For those of you who have the experience… Spread your wisdom. Whether it is giving your employees advice or sharing stories from your past… People can learn from you and want to learn from you. For those of you with less experience… Share your curiosity and be open with your colleagues. Because you can teach those with more experience what it is like to be in your shoes. Embrace the power of shared learning and collaboration in the workplace. It can have a great impact on others’ lives.

Where does the real training magic happen? Well, it’s something I actually can’t take a picture of 🎩 🐇 It’s not in thoughtful questions, slides with data or experiential exercises (eventhough these are important as well, of course). The real magic happens when during a workshop: 🪄 participants experience genuine empathy from their peers 💫 their concerns about DEI are heard, without judgment 🔮 they feel safe sharing their challenges and receive a reassuring “I’ve been there.” ✨ they aren’t given simple answers to complex problems but are validated for seeking solutions 🌘 their efforts to foster inclusivity are acknowledged and appreciated True magic unfolds when people feel seen, valued and believed. The best part? This magic isn’t reserved for special, training moments—it can happen every single day. If you witness inclusive behavior, amplify it. Let that person know you see their efforts and appreciate them. We all thrive on that kindness and recognition.
