As a new membership year gets underway, we want to give our 2024-2025 Executive Committee a chance to tell you, in their own words, why they volunteer and what makes AWCI special to them. Say hello to AWCI Secretary Adam Navratil. How long has your company been a member of AWCI? My grandfather, the founder of J&B Acoustical, Inc., joined AWCI in 1963. How long have you been involved in the organization? I have been attending Conventions since I was a child with my parents in the early 80's. Interest peaked during my college years and I naturally transitioned to attending Conventions annually from 2000 forward. I initially got involved with the Education Committee soon thereafter and served as chair for 8 years. I served on the board of directors from 2015 to 2021. Why are you involved? And why do you volunteer? I believe that participating on a national level with such a great orginization can only make you and your company better at what you do. The act of giving time to something that I'm passionate about is a way for me to give back while also honing my skillset. What is the value of membership for you, the company, your employees? The value of membership for me comes from the lifelong friendships/relationships that are forged. These relationships are valuable resourses in a non-competition environment. Thought processes, experiences, and insight are shared for the betterment of all. Our employees will get to see new products and technologies from so many vendors and manufacturers in one location while being surrounded by like-minded construction professionals. The educational programs help foster employee thought process and growth when they return to work after an AWCI event. Highly recommend this assessment to any experienced Red Team Managers - an excellent assessment of the skills needed to manage Red Team engagements designed and run by industry experts.
We are delighted to announce that, after a successful pilot and the certification of our inaugural CSRTM candidates, we are now opening bookings for our innovative Red Team Manager assessment. We have availability from August; please have a look at the requirements here: https://lnkd.in/ehK5JXB5 “It was a privilege to contribute and collaborate with experienced and esteemed peers on the CSRTM. The professional collective, which has an impressive pedigree in the field of adversary simulation and emulation, brought essential creativity and innovation to the design process. The result is a progressive approach to capability assessment that fits with the perpetual evolution of the specialism, recognises the diversity of today’s candidates, and is borne from real-world practitioner-lived experiences.” Dave Hartley, NCC Group Want to book a slot? One of my main obejectives since being in the business was to digitally innovate what we do in regards to SHEQ. I am not the most technically gifted on computers but this has truly been a real success from my team. From my experience, this day in age in construction, we have various apps that do different things from permit management, observation and incident management etc. We are asking a lot of site staff who can often see technology as extra and can become difficult to use when it’s different applications. We have designed a system that anyone can input various data via a simple QR codes on site. It has been completely designed to suit our processes and procedures. It includes; - Observations - Incidents - SHEQ audits - Leadership Tours - Daily Diaries - Site Manager inspections - Non-conformance and ITP We are also updating the system to capture carbon reporting, RAMS appraisal processes along with other useful tools. The highlight for me isn’t that they capture the data but a lot of the system works together to highlight good and bad trends with anything related to Health, Safety, Environement, Sustainability and Quality along with producing dashboard. One single action log per project supports any output from the above list. Results.. to put into context, our site teams have reacted well and taken to use the functions frequently. The first 5 months of 2023 seen us receive 71 observations. The first 5 months of this year since the launch has seen 1,183. Proud to have been shortlisted for the Constructing Exellence South West Awards, my team certainly deserve it for the hours of building this around the usual full time busy jobs.
