Training residents in endoscopy requires a significant shift from traditional bimanual techniques to a fully endoscopic approach, demanding precision and dexterity. This new paradigm involves operating in confined spaces and maneuvering the endoscope and instruments all in the same trajectory, a stark contrast to classic methods. Watching residents master these skills and embrace this innovative approach inspires confidence. Together, we’re redefining spinal surgery and advancing the field through endoscopy. Minimally invasive. Maximally effective.

I am excited to share the publication of our latest scientific article, "Impact of Sesamoid Coverage on Clinical Foot Function Following Fourth-Generation Percutaneous Hallux Valgus Surgery". A big thanks to Tom Lewis and Robbie Ray for inviting me to collaborate with such a talented team, including Gustavo Araujo Nunes and Peter Lam. Our study investigated the association between sesamoid coverage and clinical outcomes following percutaneous hallux valgus surgery. Our findings, based on a retrospective comparative observational study, highlight the importance of sesamoid reduction in achieving optimal surgical outcomes. This study adds valuable insights to the field and underscores the significance of considering sesamoid coverage in surgical planning for hallux valgus correction. I'm happy to share our most recent publication on radiologic follow-up to detect residual disease after cholesteatoma surgery. Our study demonstrates early diffusion-weighted MRI after surgery could pose a risk of false-negative outcomes. We propose a novel follow-up scheme: standard diffusion-weighted MRI after approximately 3 and 5 years, as well as an additional diffusion-weighted MRI after approximately 9 years in patients with specific risk factors (i.e. < 12 years or after canal wall up surgery without obliteration).
