Excellent “State of Partnerships" session today with Jay McBain, Nicole Dezen, and Tom Perry . Great insights on tech trends impacting partnerships and some trends in partnerships themselves. A few interesting points I captured: - Generative AI - obviously something 1000s of ISVs are working to incorporate into solutions. The impressive stat from Nicole was that Microsoft’s first product in this space GitHub Copilot is enabling developers to code 55% faster. - Cloud Marketplaces - massive growth happening here: Jay cited an 84% CAGR. Nicole made a great point on how marketplaces are “great democratizers.” They enable an unknown/smaller ISV to present their solutions and capabilities in the Azure marketplace with the same stamp of approval as larger more well known ISVs. - End of the Cookie - as tracking cookies are phased out and it becomes harder to access customer info, partnerships become even more critical for GTM. Changes needed for how to market to and through partners. - Partner Attribution. Jay quoted a McKinsey study that mentioned the average customer has 7 trusted partners. The related attribution trend seeks to recognize partners at the point of value vs point of sale. Expect more partner programs especially from larger vendors to move to point systems or other means of fractional attribution when incentivizng and rewarding partners.
