September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and today's Impact Story is Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels! At the heart of every nonprofit is a mission to change lives, and Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels does just that. This incredible organization supports families and children facing pediatric cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing financial relief, emotional and physical comfort, and a sense of dignity in their toughest battles. Their mission goes beyond service - it's about offering hope and comfort when it's needed most. It's a true honor to partner with such a purposeful organization. Vineyard Havens, a non-profit organization offering cancer patients a much-needed respite vacation on Martha's Vineyard, is an amazing organization for families who cannot afford the time or effort (not to mention the funding!) for "normalcy", time away from a hospital visit. So many people I know have been affected by cancer and what they really want is the longing to feel normal. Vacations are very normal and the idea for Vineyard Havens was born from this basic desire.   As a volunteer and board member I am privileged to witness hope and courage. The families that are coming are stepping away from their cancer world. It is a brave choice. Not everyone has that kind of fortitude. Their courage is inspiring, and it is incredibly gratifying to know that we are contributing to gifting them some moments of joy. There is just 6 weeks between these photos 💔 Childhood cancer is not something anyone wants to think about. We didn't. Until it happened to us. Only 2% of childhood cancer research funding comes from the government. The rest comes from people like us... normal people that have been directly impacted, and are doing everything we can to change the outcome for other children. We operate almost entirely on a volunteer basis. Fundraising gurus will tell you that, to attract corporate partnerships and support, we need to find a way to align our causes with the business's aims and policies. We need to find 'synergies'. The challenge is, childhood cancer isn't on any business's #ESG policy. There aren't many synergies to be found. But, we still need to raise money; to support our awareness campaigns, our pledge to ICR's research project, and real-life children and their families throughout their cancer journey.
