As a PT that left my traditional outpatient clinic for a non-traditional role, I can attest to most of the sentiments mentioned in this article. I have seen AI and other health technologies come to the aid of clinicians, creating better work life balance and increasing their reach and impact on patients. I have also seen the benefit of having clinicians in various other fields such as app development, customer success, sales, etc... expand the way companies view their interaction and engagement with their users/ consumers/ patients. 🔍 Why the Change? Burnout and Work-Life Balance Career Growth and Opportunities Diverse Skill Application And a various other reasons... This shift is not just beneficial for clinicians but also for the healthcare industry as a whole. Diverse roles allow for a more holistic approach to health and wellness, integrating technology, policy, and patient care in innovative ways. https://lnkd.in/e4DFXx7Q

💬 **To My Fellow Physical Therapists**: Feeling burned out at your outpatient clinic? You’re not alone. I know firsthand how tough it can be to keep up with back-to-back patients, mountains of documentation, and the constant pressure to hit productivity goals. It can start to feel like you’re running on empty. But remember why you became a PT—you wanted to help people heal and make a real difference. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s okay to take a step back and consider your options. You deserve a work environment where you’re supported, valued, and not just surviving, but thriving. Here are a few things that might help: - Take a moment to breathe and prioritize self-care (seriously, it matters). - Explore different practice settings—home health, telehealth, or maybe even starting your own thing. - Set boundaries with your workload and speak up for what you need. - Surround yourself with a supportive community of PTs who get it. One option you might not have considered: **Pick PT Physical Therapy**. It’s employee-owned, so you actually have a stake in the company’s success, and they truly put their therapists first. It’s a work culture where you’re not just a number—you’re part of something bigger. If you're feeling ready for a change, this might just be the fresh start you need. Take care of yourself—you can’t pour from an empty cup! 💪 #PhysicalTherapy #BurnoutSupport #PickPT #WorkLifeBalance #TherapistWellness #PTCommunity #OwnYourWork

There is a lot of negativity out there surrounding rehab therapy and the profession as well as the state of our future. But, rather than focusing on the negatives, (and believe me there are a lot of places we can improve) I choose to focus on all the ways that occupational therapists are naturally placed to excel. One area where our expertise shines is in virtual care and telehealth. Through my work at Reactiv, I've witnessed firsthand the benefits that telehealth offers both therapists and patients. As an OT, we thrive in helping people in their own environment. And what better way to treat a patient...than in their environment. My experience has shown me that this approach not only fosters a stronger rapport but also cements a foundation of trust and respect in the clinician-patient relationship. It also leverages technology to enhance our ability to treat patients more effectively (could go on and on about this). Yes of course, challenges and barriers exist, but the opportunity to innovate and advance our field by focusing on our strengths is far more rewarding. Let's not dwell on the past but instead, forge ahead, highlighting and expanding on the areas where OTs naturally excel. I'm curious 🤔 —what other positions or areas do you think are well-suited for OTs? Share your thoughts below and let's continue to focus on our strengths! #occupationaltherapy #rehabilitation #virtualcare #telehealth #digitalhealth

Psychotherapist & Supervisor| Integrating IFS, social justice lens and somatic work in a trauma focused approach
Very important reflection points!
Trauma-Informed Therapist | Clinical Supervisor | Group Private Practice Owner | Counselor Educator | Consultant, Trainer & Advocate for Culturally Responsive Mental Health Practices
Therapists, particularly those who own private practices, do you have policies and procedures for these questions... How do you handle a client who attends a session under the influence of substances? What is your procedure if a client takes a telehealth appointment while driving? How do you manage a session if a client is in a parked car, walking, or in a public place? What is your protocol if a client harasses a therapist (supervisee, intern, colleague) at your practice? What is your social media disclaimer? What is your language around a client inviting another (i.e., partner, friend, or family member) to a session, unexpectedly and unplanned? What is your policy for cancellations or rescheduling on the same day? What are the expectations for clients regarding communication methods and response times? What is the procedure if a client leaves and later wishes to return but your caseload is full? I could go on, but these are just a few questions I address in our practice's policies, procedures, and informed consent documents. The list evolves with time and experience. Regularly revising these documents at the start of every year or as needed, based on your practice's resources, needs, and clinician preferences, is a great practice. It helps create clear boundaries. But you knew that! 😉 Therapists, are there any other policies or procedures that come to mind now that you wish you had known when you first started? #mentalhealth #mentalhealthcounseling #therapy #therapists #clinicalsupervision #mentalhealtheducation #privatepractice

Leadership Coach and Training Consultant for Healthcare Leaders and their teams. Applying therapy based theories and techniques. Addressing the root cause of problems to achieve significant and lasting change
Patients benefit too! Research has shown that a positive work environment, where fun and camaraderie are valued, can lead to better patient outcomes. The impact of fun in healthcare leadership extends beyond staff well-being and organisational performance; it also has implications for patient care. For instance, hospitals that incorporate humor therapy or laughter yoga as part of their care programs have reported improvements in patient mood, pain management, and overall satisfaction. These approaches align with the broader trend of patient-centred care, which emphasises the importance of addressing patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
