Let’s go Grizzlies! Congratulations to Oakland University on the impressive renovation of South Foundation Hall! This project enhances 55,000 square feet of existing space, reconfiguring the building to increase the number of classrooms and optimize room usage with current teaching methods and technology. Additionally, a 25,000-square-foot expansion will extend the building’s capacity, accommodating the diverse needs of programs across campus. A key feature of this renovation is the integration of Chilled Beams from Price Industries. Here’s why Chilled Beams are an ideal choice for Oakland University: + Energy Efficiency: Chilled beams use water to transfer energy, offering higher efficiency due to water's superior heat capacity, aligning with the university’s sustainability goals. + Silent Operation: With their quiet operation, chilled beams ensure a distraction-free learning atmosphere. + Flexibility and Comfort: They offer precise temperature control, enhancing comfort in varied classroom settings. + Reduced Maintenance: Fewer moving parts in chilled beam systems reduce maintenance requirements and costs. We are proud to collaborate with Rolls Mechanical, Stantec, and Frank Rewold & Sons Inc. on this project. Collaborators: + Architect/Engineer: Stantec + General Contractor: Frank Rewold & Sons Inc. + Customers: Rolls Mechanical + Owner: Oakland University + Location: Rochester, MI

Her: Excuse me. May I ask your name? Me: Omega Wilson Her: I think you were my Principal at Hermitage. Me: Oh my goodness. Wow. Wow. Wow. Y’all, I went all the way to Kentucky and ran into a former student! Absolutely incredible. A few tips to remember: 1-Relationships are key. Build connections—you never know when you’ll need people. 2-Lead with love. Show them that you genuinely care. Be kind. 3-Be present. Show up for others, and they’ll show up for you. Bre warmed my heart when we reconnected. I’m proud of you, Bre. Keep doing what you’re doing. Treat people right and be genuine. Always. Life is all about the people we meet and the bonds we create. If you find it hard to build relationships, let’s talk! I’m here to help you grow in that area. DM me! #buildrelationships #students #leadwithlove

A look back at our first #JuryforJoy - the long-term citizens-jury focused on culture and creativity for West Cumbria. I don’t think there is a single or fixed way as to how methods around how collective decision making can or should be used in relation to arts, culture or culture-led development but as a relatively new-comer to use of deliberative democracy it seems obvious now that these processes make just things better, be that commissioning, creating, programming, whatever. In every project I’ve ever worked on (and happy to take my part of the blame here) consultation plays a role but there is a massive degree of variance as to how that process may inform or influence any outcomes. I think perhaps for too long place-based practice has been rooted in someone (curator, producer or planner) interpreting a version of a place rather than enabling that place to be its unfiltered self and use that as the starting point for any work, always build from the ground up. It feels like things are changing and a real momentum behind that change, am especially excited to see how networks like #CitizensInPower are going inform how things are done as in the future.
