We made it, and what a difference it has made. Our Skills for Mahi work has hit another milestone with the completion of cohort 1 of this amazing programme at Naenae College. The programme is delivered by Mani Malaeulu with the support of the J.P. Morgan and the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce Education to Employment team. The intent of this work was to build the work ready skills of the rangatahi and introduce them to the world of work, with a particular focus on the amazing opportunities we have in the manufacturing / engineering sectors here in the Hutt Valley. So have we made a difference? ❌ 88% of rangatahi had NO understanding of the manufacturing sector at the start of the course ✅ 74% of the rangatahi had an understanding of the manufacturing sector at the end of the course. ❌ 65% of the students had no CV and no idea what to do at an interview at the start of the course ✅ 51% of the rangatahi now have a CV and know how they should prepare of an interview ✅ 37% of the rangatahi now have a CV and are working on their preparation skills for an interview ✅ There was a positive variation from 6% to 67% for rangatahi that now feel that skills like positive attitude, communication, teamwork, self management, willingness to learn, thinking skills, resilience, problem solving, accepting others, reliability and being on time are ESSENTIAL for their future of work. ✅ Rangatahi felt there was more options for them when they leave school including further education at university or polytechnic, apprenticeships, or employment now they were more are of the skills and options. 2024 Is The Best Year To Join A B-School 🗓️ Ankit Doshi, Founder - InsideIIM.com | AltUni.in starts the session by throwing a question at MBA aspirants on whether 2024 is the best year to join an MBA or not. He further goes on to say that the top campuses in the country won't be able to achieve a 100% placement record this time, because there aren't enough jobs out there. He adds that the situation might worsen in the coming days.📉 Ankit believes that the record number of CAT 2023 applications is a result of the poor placements in the undergraduate space, and young graduates look at MBA as a route to earn a decent salary. Ankit then says that batches that enter B-School when there's a downturn end up benefitting when they graduate, and wishes the same for the class of 2024-26. 🏫 It's better to be in a B-School for the next 2 years and build skills , rather than worrying about job hunting in this poor market. Hence, it's a great decision for aspirants to join a B-School this year, even if it's not the best interview call they secure. Ankit emphasizes why the interview preparation is way more important than the exam preparation. The months of handwork, sacrifice and effort have helped you receive an interview shortlist, and if the final frontier, you take it lightly, then you end up not only investing two years at a B-School, but you might end up with an average placement.🤝 According to Ankit, the big problem that aspirants have is that they consider the interview preparation as a soft skill, while in reality it's all about understanding how to frame opinions, drive interviews to your strengths, be aware of current affairs - and it's not something that can be mastered overnight.⏳ He concludes the session by requesting aspirants to not take the interviews lightly, and put in more hours of preparation as compared to exam preparation. 📺 Watch The Full video below- https://lnkd.in/dSMjxu2K #watpi #mba
