🎥 Streamlining Hiring with Video Applications 🎬 In our recruiting business, we employed a unique technique during the hiring process: We asked applicants to submit a short video introducing themselves. This was particularly effective as we were hiring recruiters. The rationale? It allowed us to gauge an applicant's communication skills upfront – a critical aspect in recruiting. Recently, I realized that video outreach is the flip side of the coin -- essentially the reverse of our hiring strategy. Video outreach empowers you to showcase your personality and energy in a way mere text does not. It's a dynamic way to connect, engage, and leave a lasting impression. However, this approach is a double-edged sword. A poorly executed video might do more harm than good. But for those who are adept communicators, it presents an unmatched advantage. I had a recent virtual interview with a marketing candidate who showed up with a secret weapon: 👉 A carefully prepared notepad with notes on their accomplishments! They mentioned upfront that they'd be referencing their notes to ensure accuracy in their answers. What struck me most was how prepared they were, and how they maintained eye contact while referencing their notes! ✅ They had: — Bullet points on specific campaigns they led, including metrics and results — Notes on challenges they overcame and even lessons learned Their answers were concise, specific, and backed by numbers. It was clear that they had taken the time to prepare and reflect on their experiences. 💡 No vague statements or exaggerated claims — just concrete examples of their impact.
