🌌 News from the Gaia Collaboration! 🌌 Alberto Krone-Martins and Andre Moitinho de Almeida, #researcher and #professor at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, published "Gaia Focused Product Release: A catalogue of sources around quasars to search for strongly lensed quasars" in Astronomy & Astrophysics #AandA! This work introduces the GravLens pipeline, a powerful tool designed to analyze Gaia detections around quasars and identify configurations compatible with strongly lensed quasars. By leveraging the DBSCAN clustering algorithm and advanced scoring techniques, they examined over 3.7 million quasars and produced a catalogue of over 500,000 neighboring sources. Impressively, 381 lens candidates were identified, with 49 considered the most promising. Strongly lensed quasars are fundamental for cosmology, offering insights into the universe's structure and evolution.
