The BP Translation Conferences vibes have been thoroughly presented in lots of posts on various social media platforms. So many points of view, so many approaches, one common outcome: BP24 was a fabulous experience, and, to be honest, this is the reason why, every year, translators gather wherever Csaba and Zita organise these events. Presentations, workshops, fringe events, all carefully organised, cultural exchange, and, most of all, networking, these are the ingredients that make BP conferences so successful. The quality of a conference is given by the sum of all the above plus the human factor, the organisers and the attendees who add value and contribute to its success. I understand why Dr. Babar implies that West is the place where new ideas generate from since it has been a hub for generating new ideas for quite some time now. I personally think we shouldn’t look up to the West as the only place that can generate new ideas, we too possess the potential to pitch and contribute new ideas on the global stage. If new ideas from the West emerge, we should not hesitate in learning and adapting them. An environment of mutual learning should be the way forward while the West should not be considered as the sole hub for new ideas.
