In my recent radio engagement, I discussed the incredible impact of #technology in our lives and society. I highlighted the importance of more #womenintech as I understand the vital role women are playing in driving innovation and sustainability. Some of the tips to help one thrive in the Tech space that I shared with my audience include the following: - Continuous Learning and Improvement: Technology evolves rapidly, so to thrive we have to be always open to learning something new. Seek to acquire relevant certifications, this shows commitment and also helps to exert authority in the chosen niche. - Develop your soft skills: From #communication to #collaboration, #designthinking to #criticalthinking to mention a few. These are necessities in the #Tech space. - Join a Community: There are lots of benefits of being part of a tech #community, such as shared resources and learning, mentorship, network, and access to opportunities to mention a few. Last but by no means the least, attend events, workshops and conferences. Participation in these programs offers the chance to get a new perspective, learn, and connect with new people. In view of that, I would want to invite you all to Abia Women in Tech Summit where I will be speaking. If you are in Aba or its environs avail yourself the opportunity to be there. 🌟 Breaking Barriers in Tech: Reflections from LauzHack 2024 🌟 Last Saturday, an inspiring roundtable discussion on women in technology was held at LauzHack hosted at the EPFL Innovation Park. The event featured an exceptional panel of women leaders, who explored key themes impacting the future of the tech industry: mentoring, networking, and the importance of diversity in tech. Panelists Yvette Engering, Veronica Forton, and Flavia D. interviewed by Milyana Mcirdi shared their career journeys, including navigating career shifts, stepping into leadership roles, and addressing the systemic challenges women in tech often face. 💡 Key takeaways from the session: ✔️Mentorship goes beyond guidance—it’s a catalyst for confidence and growth. ✔️Networking is more than connections; it’s about building a support system that empowers individuals to take on challenges. ✔️Diversity is not just a goal; it’s essential for fostering innovation and progress. A quiz engaged the audience, highlighting diversity statistics within Switzerland’s tech sector. For instance, only 15-20% of tech roles in Switzerland are occupied by women, with leadership representation slightly higher, underscoring the need for targeted initiatives. Personal stories were shared, showcasing the diverse paths taken and the shared passion for innovation and problem-solving. Challenges like overcoming biases and proving naysayers wrong emphasized resilience and collaboration as vital components for an inclusive tech landscape. A heartfelt thank you to Eric Bezzam for organizing this impactful event and to everyone who joined the conversation. Stay tuned for a potential new concept of hackathon 😉 What is the most effective way to drive diversity in tech? During a recent business trip, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Pun-Arj Chairatana and Tanachai Kulsomboonsin from Canvas Ventures Co., Ltd. Our discussion delved into their intriguing investment thesis, which I highly recommend exploring. It was during this conversation that I was introduced to the concept of Pink Money. In Singapore, a society that tends to lean towards conservatism, the notion of Pink Money caught my attention. For the unaware, it refers to the purchasing power and economic influence wielded by the LGBTQ+ community. This demographic often seeks businesses and brands that align with their values of inclusivity and diversity. Understanding Pink Money isn't just about recognizing a market segment; it's about acknowledging the significance of diversity and inclusivity in today's economy. Businesses that embrace these values not only tap into a lucrative market but also contribute to a more equitable and accepting society! If you are keen to support, do help them gain more data and insights on how the market views Pink Tech and investments by sharing your views via the form!
