"HR doesn’t understand business. Their only job is to hire and fire people." 😰 Students in the incoming batch who are looking to get into MBA-HR, I believe you have come across at least one person who has commented the same and told you that it’s a bad decision. Let’s look at the real picture: 🔴 HR’s only job is hiring & firing. True, recruitment and offboarding are handled by HR. But these are part of the entire employee life cycle, entirety of which is managed by HR. HR is responsible for building and nurturing a healthy work culture, and there is a lot of strategy that goes into the mix. If every HR professional is busy with recruitment, who do you think looks after your performance management and learning requirements? Roles offered after MBA-HR are purely strategic and provide excellent career paths. 🔴 HR doesn’t understand business. Let me share my own SIP experience. Even though my project was in L&D, I had to go on market visits with the sales team to understand how the organization makes money, how the sales team operates, and what the critical business challenges are (from dealers, distributors, and competitors). Only when I had enough knowledge about the business could I go ahead and identify the learning gaps and design necessary interventions. You always have to understand the business thoroughly. Good luck copying one company’s strategy to another without understanding the complexities of the business. I hope myths like these don’t deter students from pursuing HR. Share in the comments which other HR myths you’ve come across. I will cover more of these in the future. #MBA #HR #XLRI #MDI #TISS #IIM

As I think about my future and my career path one thing has always been thought to be a truth. That I would need to get my master’s degree to continue moving forward and up. I think the hardest part of this decision is what school to pick. One that I have been looking at but am unsure of is WGU. To my recruiter and HR friends and connections- would a degree (specifically a MBA) be seen as less than if it was from WGU? #hr #hrmanager #continuinged #growth

Strategic Human Resources Leader | Expert in Talent Development & Organizational Growth | Senior Manager with a Proven Track Record in Driving HR Excellence
After working in HR, I’ve realized that many companies prioritize candidates' MBAs and courses, which seems unnecessary for HR roles. If an individual has experience in a big brand or MNC but lacks an MBA, they should still be valued and nurtured based on their talent. Candidates with zeal and a capacity for learning deserve competitive salaries, just like those with formal qualifications. Short-term HR courses can be pursued while working, so why should a candidate with an MBA and relevant courses be offered 10 lakh while an experienced candidate without them is limited to 4 lakh? There should be equality, as experience is what truly matters. A beautiful presentation is not what drives company growth; it’s about profit. Companies are losing credibility by not valuing knowledge and talent. The focus should be on employees who can provide constructive feedback rather than simply conforming to management. Departments should be created to recognize and retain talent, investing in their growth for the benefit of the company. Policies need to be established to prevent managers from prioritizing their personal gains over the organization's success. If management focuses solely on their interests, they risk removing talented employees in favor of freshers, which ultimately hinders growth. Companies must take decisive actions to secure their future.

Why I Transitioned from HR to an Operations Profile People often ask me why I moved from an HR role to an agent or operations-level position. Here’s the thing—many organizations still prioritize an MBA over skills and experience, especially for roles in HR. In today’s competitive landscape, even aspiring HR professionals with MBAs find it challenging to secure a full-time role. The reality? If you didn’t graduate from a top-tier business school, you might face an uphill battle breaking into HR. This stereotype has made the HR domain more cluttered and unstructured than ever, despite it being the backbone of any organization. When I was an undergraduate in a technical field, I noticed that several MBAs in HR were earning the same payroll as mine, which gave me pause. This experience shaped my perspective and was a turning point for my career. The shift allowed me to leverage my skills differently and find value beyond a conventional path. Here’s to breaking stereotypes and embracing a broader vision for what a fulfilling career can look like! #CareerTransition #BreakingStereotypes #Operations #GrowthMindset
