The project's concept is around an individual's mental health and how today's generation perceives their surroundings—from a societal standpoint. To demonstrate how things are and how they function. Thus, we used two generic scenarios. In one scenario, society views women as beautiful, elegant, and ideal, but the agony and scars of her inner self are never see discussed. On the other hand, today's generation thinks that things have changed, as Generation Z's concept of fashion has evolved throughout time. #Mentalhealth #DirtyMagazine #MagazineDesign #Photography

Where have all these kids come from? Today's look back on 21 years in business! I am a bit fuzzy on the details of how it happened, but for some reason I started getting lots of enquiries and bookings, for children portraits… It was not my first choice, as far as clientele goes, but not because I do not like children. I do like them. It is just that I had no experience in working with that age group, and it had not been the direction I wanted to take. But, hey. Nothing ventured, and all that! I started to take the bookings and soon found out that: 🌟I am a natural at working with children and have the patience of a saint (parents' words…). 🌟For some reason children loved working with me, and had no issues taking direction on posing. 🌟I was able to indulge my inner child, which is very much alive and well, and this worked in my favour as far as relating to the little angels, and putting them at ease. 🌟No one looked at me as if I was weird when I rolled on the floor, put stuffed animals on my head, or when I blew a raspberry (to some parents' horror). I captured some of my favourite work over the 16 years I photographed children and families, and became quite fond of the genre, though newborn photography was never something I was that comfortable with, as the responsibility of handling the little bundles of joy made me quite anxious, so I avoided it. In fact, newborn photography was the first style of portraiture I dropped from my services, in the subsequent years. Within a year of setting up the business my portfolio was growing, and I was offering: Women Portraits Children Portraits Family Portraits Pregnancy Portraits Below is a selection of some of my favourite images over 16 years, and I could post, literally, hundreds more! #anniversary #businessanniversary #celebrations #21years #lookingback #solopreneur #smallbusiness #photographer #photography #portraitphotography #children #families #andreadegabrielphotographer #mystory

A good example of how years of specialized research can enable a humanities scholar to reshape public perception of a cultural phenomenon. Andrea Kaston Tange is writing for a general public audience, based on her deep research in cultural history. In other words, when you fund original humanities research, we all end up benefitting.
The latest from me, on Victorian photos of children in which adults are ostensibly hidden (and why I think thinking of them that way is a sensationalizing ahistoricism). Bonus: photos from my private collection. I'd love it if you read (and shared!) and let me know what you think:
‘Hidden mother’ photos don’t erase moms − rather, they reveal the labor and love that support the child

📸 “5 Important impacts , A family can provide in the world of fashion and commercial photographer!”💼 We unfortunately belong to a career path where we indulge mostly into uncertainty and ups&downs in the market. Although we strive towards consistency, we sometimes get ourselves down. This is where I think our family has to support us and be our backbone . This will eventually make us bounce back with consistency and self-belief. However I thought of pointing it down a few important impacts one’s family can provide. Here are the things: 1. Emotional Encouragement 🙆:Family provides crucial emotional support during the highs and lows of the photography journey. 2. Logistical Assistance 🏄♀️:They help with practical tasks like childcare and household responsibilities, freeing up time for the photographer to focus on their craft. 3. Financial Support 💸 :Whether it’s investing in equipment or weathering slow periods in the industry, family often steps in to provide financial assistance. 4. Feedback and Ideas 🧠:Family members can serve as valuable sounding boards, offering constructive feedback and fresh perspectives on the photographer’s work. 5. Celebrating Successes Together 🎉: When the hard work pays off and successes are achieved, having family to celebrate with adds extra joy and motivation. A big shoutout and grateful to all the supportive families out there who play an essential role in fueling the creativity and success of photographers. 🙌📸 #Photography #FamilySupport #Gratitude #kiranphotraits

I've just had a tremendous piece of email marketing from Suzy at the Centre for Ageing Better. This includes 5 great tips on avoiding ageism in your imagery. I've got a client who works with older people and people with mobility issues and we were getting pretty frustrated with the stereotypical imagery in mainstream libraries. I've viewed 100s over the past few months. Mainstream picture libraries have ... ❌ Too many images of older people and people in wheelchairs being 'helped'. Not enough images of people just doing regular stuff, getting on with life. ❌'Couple' images where the man is old and the woman is about half his age. ❌ So many images of older people in wheelchairs with a rug over their knees. Way too many rugs. ❌ A lot of people dressed in beige. I loved the top five tips from Centre for Ageing Better on avoiding ageism in image choices, some great tips: https://lnkd.in/g64Piwyi Also, have a look at their Age Positive Photo library that's free to use and represents a much more interesting range of people and diversity. Sharing to photographers I know, that might want to get involved with this library: Benjamin, Nick, Stephen ❤️ #AgeingBetter #BanBeige

🌟 As parents, we witness countless milestones in our children's lives, but few are as pivotal and heart-stirring as their senior year of high school. One of the best ways to commemorate this significant phase is through a professional senior portrait session. A professional portrait session captures the essence of their personality. 2️⃣ Capture their True Self Unlike standard school photos, senior portraits are personalized and authentic. They allow your child to express their interest, hobbies, and aspirations and showcase who they are, beyond just a cap and gown. 3️⃣ Create Timeless Keepsakes: These portraits are more than just photos; their timeless keepsakes that your family will treasure for a lifetime. 4️⃣ Professional Touch Professional photographers have the expertise to capture your child in the best light. They pay attention to details that make a difference. 5️⃣ Boost Confidence: A senior portrait session can be a significant confidence booster. It’s an opportunity. for your child to see themselves through a new lens and appreciate their own unique beauty and personality. 6️⃣ An opportunity for Family Involvement Participating in your child’s senior portrait session can be a bonding experience. It’s a chance to get involved, share ideas, and even be a part of some of the photos, creating a memorable family moment.
