So what makes a good project manager? We’ve been recruiting a lot pf people to our Redmoor Health team this last 12 months as we embark upon our exciting growth journey in partnership with the Palatine. It can be a daunting prospect when you recruit people, especially to an organisation like ours with a strong family and partnership orientated ethos. But at the same time it’s exciting and makes you take a step back to consider the type of behaviours and characteristics that will help your business grow, especially in our sector. So what qualities do we look for given navigating the complexities of healthcare projects, especially those involving NHS partners, requires a project manager who embodies a unique set of qualities. Adaptability is crucial; NHS projects can change rapidly with shifting guidelines and unexpected challenges. A superb project manager can adapt strategies on the fly while keeping the project's end goals in sight. Clear and precise communication is equally vital, ensuring all stakeholders, from clinical to administrative personnel, understand each phase of the project. This not only reduces errors but also helps in maintaining alignment with NHS standards. Empathy plays a significant role, too. Understanding the pressures NHS staff face can lead to better cooperation and outcomes, making considerate planning and problem resolution essential. Attention to detail is another critical attribute. The high stakes in NHS projects mean that managing the minutiae is as important as overseeing the big picture, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency. Lastly, strong leadership is indispensable. An effective leader inspires confidence and motivates the team, navigating through complexities with calm and decisive action. Such leadership not only drives the project forward but also cements lasting partnerships with one of the UK’s most vital institutions.
