#Indiaelection2024 stats - 🔸 There are 96.8 crore registered voters eligible to vote in 2024. 🔸 First-time voter: 1.8 crore. 🔸 In 12 Indian states, there are more women voters than men. 🔸 Specially-abled voters: 88.4 lacks; Transgender: 48,000 🔸 Number of polling stations: 10.5 lakh 🔸 Number of polling officials: 1.5 crore 🔸 Number of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM): 55 lakh The image below is from one of the polling stations at the Siachen Glacier base camp, where a friend of mine is on duty for phase 5 (i.e. today). Surprisingly, this location has only five voters—2 males and 3 females—and is located 11447 ft above sea level. Many intellectuals could still discuss how democracy is at stake in India. But this image still speaks a lot about India's belief in democracy. P.S. You can observe how gushy the winds are due to which the curtains are waving.

The juggernaut of democracy in India will start rolling in two days time. The Election Commission of India is setting up 12 lakh (1200000) booths managed by 150, 00, 000 personnel to conduct these elections. The smallest polling booth, for just one voter, will perhaps be again in the deep jungles of Gir Lion Sanctuary in Gujerat where Mahant Haridasji Udasin in Banej will vote. Tashigang in Himachal Pradesh is the world's highest polling station at 15,256 ft. In the last election in 2019, 51 of the 52 voters there turned up to vote. At 98%, it was the highest turnout. Out of 97 crore Indians eligible to vote 8100000 are physically challenged; 180,00, 000 are octogenarians and 250, 000 are centanarians!! 47 crore are women, 185, 00, 000 are first time voters and over 46000 are from third gender. Women voters may as well be the key factor since they are more than male voters in many constituencies. For example, in Tamil Nadu out of 6,18,90,348 total voters, male voters are 3,03,96,330 but women voters number 3,14,85,724!! I wonder if any other country can even hazard to think of the colourful social facet of the largest exercise in democracy like the one in India. #elections #india #voters #juggernaut #democracy #society #women

"Bold Alone, Bolder Together" - a campaign statement used by a Motorcycle Manufacturer to achieve its target. Dear Connections, You may WONDER, "Why" am I discussing this particular campaign statement? I(We) can incorporate the essence of this statement to make India into a developed nation by 2047. "How" it can be achieved by the year 2047? Apart from Individual Efforts and Collective conscience, I strongly believe that the Leadership of the Land and Governance play a vital role in achieving this target. “Whose” responsibility is to Identify and elect a Leadership for the land to achieve the 2047 vision of the nation? Responsibility strongly lies in the participation and decision-making of Indian Voters. "Who" can vote to make India into a developed nation by 2047? Every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years and has their name on the voter list can vote to choose the representatives to lead India towards 2047. "When" do you get an opportunity to select a Leader in the election? We have the upcoming LokSabha Election 2024. Eligible voters can select their representatives to lead toward Vision 2047. "Which" is your choice? Choices are decided by Indian Voters. With a Rational thought process, vote for the choice that gives you the chance to achieve the vision 2047. What makes me bold and What makes us bolder? - Defines "I"(Individuality) and "We"(Collectivity). A LinkedIn friend DMed me asking whether INDIA🇮🇳 has what it takes to beat NDA as the match appears extremely lopsided now. Here's my reply: In 2014, even I was excited about Modi coming to power and there was obviously strong anti-incumbency. All that changed in 2019. A lot of Indians were disenchanted with Modi. Nonetheless, BJP could come back to power with a combination of factors. BJP got 37% vote share because of the contribution of some strong regional allies such as Shiv Sena, ADMK, Janata Dal (United), Shiromani Akali Dal and Lok Janshakti Party. This time, only rumps of such parties are with BJP. Another factor that helped BJP win a majority was a highly divided opposition. This time, the opposition is truly united. So, in both ways, BJP is squeezed now. There were rumours that EVMs were found in STD booths and lodges. And hundreds of thousands of EVMs were allegedly reported missing. This is where the opposition has to be vigilant this time. Would the rightly timed propaganda films like Kashmir Files and JNU make any impact? Not really. It's about arithmetic. At the local level, people don't bother themselves with propaganda. They will vote based on local issues and even caste. INDIA🇮🇳 has effectively united micro and macro influencers. Now, it's all about booth level management and prevention of EVM rigging. I want to believe INDIA🇮🇳 is up to the task. Because if INDIA Bloc🇮🇳 parties lose this election, there will be no INDIA Bloc🇮🇳 parties post-Elections. Arrests of Soren and Kejriwal are only trials. In Tamilnadu, the Dravidian Model Governance Proponent and Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Thiru M.K.Stalin Avl asks votes based on his three years of exemplary development initiatives and results. He also tells people what would happen to India🇮🇳 if divisive and fascist forces come back to power. Tamilnadu's Tallest Youth Leader, Champion of Inclusion and Embodiment of Compassion Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin Avl lives and fights for the rights of the voiceless and oppressed. DMK lives social justice and inclusive development 24/7. INDIA🇮🇳 will win. You can watch the DMK's Election Song here. What’s it like voting in two totally different democracies IRL? Indian elections “are like carnivals: processions and massive campaign rallies with loud music and rhyming party slogans in Bollywood mashups,” reveals Yuvoice Senior Editor and self-proclaimed proud voter, Tripti M. There’s no escaping the passion either: “Everything is a campaign board — the electric poles, tree trunks, public vehicles, walls, and roads decorated with posters and banners are everywhere.” By contrast, voting in the US is often muted, with citizens slinking off to vote in their lunch breaks, she observes. What’s your take on exercising your democratic muscle in a year when 64 countries are going to the polls?🗳️ Scan the code or click the links to engage in spirited discussions, thought-provoking articles, and inspiring stories from Yuvoicers. Meanwhile, global citizen Tripti is looking forward to animated family discussions on Indian bhashans (speeches) and American debates around her dinner table.
