I, too, am very excited to introduce this first episode of our new video series, "Conversations with Kerry and Kim." Kim Berney-Brooke and I represent different (at least two) generations of Organizational Psychologists with experience as internal and external consultants. Since Kim and I first met about a year and a half ago, we have had many conversations about the numerous challenges/learning opportunities that leaders and others are currently confronting in their work and personal lives. We've discussed issues such as the paradoxical demands of leadership, the importance of belonging and connection, vulnerability, psychological work contracts, coping with and preventing stress and burnout, learning from experience, learning "how to learn", and many more. Throughout these many discussions, we've been struck by how often these challenges were present amid major changes throughout the past 50 years (and undoubtedly throughout history). I have often found myself thinking and even saying aloud, "I'm surprised at how much we know, yet how little we've learned" from our past experiences. "Kim and I hope you'll listen to our first foray into sharing a series of these conversations with you. Please follow the link in Kim's post below. Share your thoughts with us in the comments. We promise to learn from our experience as we go, AND, we value your wise (and kind) input as we proceed.

I am excited to announce the first episode of **Conversations with Kerry & Kim** Kerry Bunker, Ph.D. and I met over a year ago through serendipity of virtual connections! (Thank you Kristen Wilkinson and Ardeshir Mehran, Ph.D.!!) Kerry and I are both organizational psychologists and every time we would catch up we had great conversations! Rather than keep our talks to ourselves we wanted to share with you! Starting our careers in different decades, we find similarities in our experiences and observations. In this first episode we talk about Kerry’s experience in the late 1970s into the 1980s. We touch upon the rippling impact of the cultural shifts that are amplified today. We invite you to have a listen, subscribe to the the channel, and share suggestions for future topics or thoughts you have on our conversation! We look forward to having you join our conversation! https://lnkd.in/eJi8xGus

When Aaron Kohrs invited me to be on his podcast, Change Cafe, I was excited to join and tell my story. However, the story that came out was different from the story I've told so many times in the past, which while true, is not, ultimately, very deep. Change requires courage and energy. In this episode, I dive more into how I was able to make the changes I did verses simply describing the changes and the subsequent impacts. Check it out if you're interested.
On this episode of Change Cafe, we hear from Anthony Alderman, CRE®, SR/WA, FRICS, a successful businessman and community organizer in Hickory, NC. A former English college professor who became an appraiser and started his own company, Alderman shares the most valuable tip when it comes to manifesting change: getting out of your own mental comfort zone—and exploring the world outside of the boxes we create for ourselves. Tune in @ https://spoti.fi/4dHJm1D.

I have been waiting for the right moment to post this message and after the last 48 hours, now is the right time. Your marginalized and multicultural communities are suffering. Most of us who were born here are now suffering from an identity crisis and a belonging crisis. I urge you to check in on your colleagues and make sure that they take 5. They may look OK but they are not. Let us remember that diversity and inclusion are not mere buzzwords or checkboxes on an agenda. They are living, breathing concepts that require genuine care, understanding, and action. By encouraging an atmosphere of empathy and compassion, we can create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Over these months, we have witnessed the power of our convictions as we engage in impactful boycotts. By supporting local businesses and rejecting those that fail to align with our values, we are not only reshaping the market but also shifted the spotlight onto the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. As we continue down this transformative path, let us remember that the true power lies within us – within our collective to bring change, within our ability to lead by example, a world that embraces compassion. I encourage you to watch the below video, it is a powerful message, I have watched it a few times since Christmas. I also encourage you to google Harrison Ford's aka Indiana Jones 😉 2019 Climate message which is equally as powerful. Thank you https://lnkd.in/e4UDDHHH
