I’m sharing this to raise awareness amongst my retail network - everyone should try to attend. There is still a huge knowledge gap between retail and the ever-growing requirements that are impacting licensors (IP owners). I operate in both ponds (retail and licensing) through my businesses and we do all we can to educate but SiLC is the perfect forum. Licensees (retailers and manufacturers) selling products using someone else’s IP need to understand and adhere to these changes. These incoming changes are mandatory and will affect us all. Licensors are evolving fast and traditional licensing of licensors playing a passive role has run its course. Licensors need to assume more control and take accountability of the way their IP is being leveraged by licensees. This is not a promo post and I haven’t been asked to promote this! I genuinely think every retailer that operates any form of licensing should have a presence at the event to understand what’s coming.
