Extend our senses Thank you Elizabeth Torres for sharing. This video brought back my memory with Akhil Lad. One of our social skills classes Care For A Friend- May 2016- Akhil used a very controversial method Supported Typing in conversation with 15 yr old Neurotypical. They were discussing research and proofs one has to prove it. Akhil questioned him Akhil: what is your theory about ideas that cannot be proven? NT individual: we keep on researching till we don’t get the answer Akhil : Do you believe things can be true even if not proven? How can others in science accept unproven theories? NT individual: we don’t accept anything unless it’s proven. Till that time it’s only an idea. After a couple of Q&A Akhil finally asked him Akhil-“Me sitting here typing is not proven so is our conversation not real…” So that’s the end of the talk… We have A lot to learn about AUTISM Once you have an Open Mind Presume Competence. Lot to learn and many things unfold You can wait for proof or give the individual a meaningful and respectful life that’s one’s choice Sandeep Anand Mahesh Lad Shreefāl Mehta
