AI agents are transforming industries by automating complex tasks and providing real-time insights. Here's a look at 3 companies I find interesting in this space: Decisional AI (YCS24): Recently launched as part of Y Combinator's highly competitive S24 batch, Decisional AI is developing an AI Financial Analyst for the financial services industry. The startup is backed by prominent investors including Character, Y Combinator, and Moonfire Ventures. Adept AI: Focused on creating AI assistants for enterprise workflows, Adept AI has attracted significant investment from Greylock Partners. Inflection AI: Developing advanced conversational AI agents, Inflection AI is supported by strategic investment from industry giant NVIDIA The global AI assistant market is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 30% between 2023 and 2028, reaching a valuation of approximately $28.5 billion by the end of the forecast period. If you or anyone you know is raising in the AI agent space or B2B in general, drop me a DM! I'd love to chat :) #VentureCapital #AI #AIAgents

The past few years have brought about significant shifts in the focus of our #investments, resulting in substantial changes to the composition of our assets. In particular, two changes stand out. First, a shift towards AI-related investments as we enter the #AI Revolution, illustrated by Arm growing to represent 47% of our portfolio. Second, a move to mitigate geographical risk by adopting a more globally balanced regional composition. Swipe through the images to learn the details of what’s changed. Betteridge's Law suggests "NO". Further thoughts: First, companies are more focused on profits and unit economics / good business fundamentals than they were in earlier times. I can't speak to AI directly, but certainly for hardware / deep tech - there are great businesses in here if we can get them to market. To Aaron's post and Polymath's post - anyone who thinks they can easily / quickly / trivially move from 90% good enough to 99% good enough isn't paying attention and hasn't done this before. What we need to do is design for today's reality, make it work, put it in a workflow with humans were the 90% solution + humans = 99% reliable, and delivers enough value to win today.
I wonder if the VC industry risks being overexposed to AI investments that can't get good enough. I saw an investor update recently from an AI company struggling to get accurate enough. Essentially, they got to 90% but were struggling to continue making progress, and their use case needed 100% accuracy to be trusted. For those of us who have been working with AI for a while, this feels a lot like what the self-driving industry felt like in 2017. Assuming AGI doesn't appear in the next 2 years, what percentage of AI companies will outright fail if they can't get above ~98% accuracy? Given that something like ~80% of the last YC batch was in AI (a good sample set of VC funding), what will happen to the venture asset class?

Getting GenAI to life… five pragmatic steps to move and realise benefits in 2024
Over half of TMT companies are already using #GenAI. But with so many opportunities and challenges, where should they prioritize their actions? And what to do later? We explore five no-regret actions that TMT companies need to take NOW: 1-Establish an “AI control tower” to centralize innovation, knowledge, and skills; designate someone from the C-Suite to plan and coordinate the control tower’s activities with other parts of the business. 2-Launch small-scale pilot projects using proprietary enterprise data to test GenAI solutions and gather feedback. 3-Put GenAI at the centre of the ecosystem strategy: prioritize AI discussions with existing partner ecosystem; monitor AI partner landscape for new opportunities 4-Start building stakeholder confidence in AI; identify new risks emerging from GenAI and implement tools to mitigate them. 5-Inject GenAI into multi-year tech transformation; ensure the technology roadmap is in sync with the selected GenAI pilots. There are many other actions that need to be planned but not all the details need to be settled now.
