What a summer it has been! 🌞 Despite my usual focus on non-partisan professional matters, I wanted to share a personal milestone that sheds light on a different side of me. I reside in a long-standing Conservative stronghold in Worthing, West Sussex, where change seemed unlikely. However, over the years, a dedicated team and I worked tirelessly to break barriers and make history. From winning the first Labour Borough Councillor seat in four decades in 2017 to securing control of the Council for the first time in 2022, each victory was a testament to perseverance and teamwork. By leveraging technology and strategic planning at a grassroots level, we engaged with voters and made our presence known. Our journey culminated in an audacious bid for the Worthing West Parliamentary seat, a challenge that required campaigning in uncharted territories. The culmination of weeks of meticulous planning and rallying volunteers resulted in the election of Worthing West's first Labour MP, Beccy Cooper. This experience reinforced the power of collective action and the indispensable role of human connection in any endeavor. Transitioning from orchestrating campaign strategies to the professional realm, I carry with me valuable lessons in leadership and adaptability. Rest assured, I remain committed to impartiality in my professional engagements. Regardless of one's political stance, I hope this accomplishment resonates as a testament to the impact of dedicated individuals working towards a common goal. As summer draws to a close, it's time to shift focus back to my core expertise. On the horizon? Securing a new Test/QA Contract. Exciting times ahead! 🚀 #TeamWork #AchievementUnlocked #CommunityEngagement

In my latest Forbes article, I get the change to discuss the importance of collective impact for forcing accountability. Collective impact creates checks and balances across entities to ensure they act ethically in service to the collective mission. This is also a theme that Bill Woolf and I draw out in our book "Eradicating Human Trafficking: A Transformative Approach through Collective Impact." There are many issues we can solve when we come together and take action toward a common mission. What do you think is the benefit of collective impact? https://lnkd.in/gFAdNtXv Learn more about our book here: https://lnkd.in/gWhd3S2E

Check out Brittany Dunn, MBA’s new insightful piece on Forbes about the power of collective impact in tackling human trafficking. It's a potent reminder of how unified efforts across various sectors can create meaningful change. The article underscores the importance of communication, training, data aggregation, and a coordinating entity to drive these initiatives forward. Let's champion the concept of collective impact to not just address human trafficking but all complex social issues. Highly recommend reading and considering how we can all contribute. #CollectiveImpact #SocialChange #EradicatingHumanTrafficking

https://lnkd.in/gzKA6yBe #Publicadministration is a broad field that covers the administrative services needed to help build and strengthen society. The field often focuses on "developing and influencing local, state or federal regulations and policies to drive positive change in our communities and society at large," said Michelle Caron, PhD, CPC, associate dean of business at Southern New Hampshire University ( #SNHU ). Today, the issues facing public administrators are as broad as the populations they serve. Good public administrators must ensure they serve all constituents fairly and equitably. Some of the challenges they face include the perception of corruption in #government , the rise in new technologies and their effect on #communications, a lack of #diversity in citizen participation and #implicitbias and racial #discrimination, according to a commentary published in the American Society for Public Administration’s PA Times.

Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at The Social Value Portal "Another possible is possible" (Arturo Escobar)
An opportunity to be at the heart of policy development on Social Value that's only going to come up once in this political generation. Nice to see the new administration jumping straight in. As Charlotte Turner is saying, it fits the mindset of some key appointees (great to see Douglas Alexander back, by the way!) which gives us optimism for the prospects of a Social Value Economy. #socialvalue #economy #responsiblebusiness
It seems that Responsible Business and Social Value are core in our new government - but they need some expert help to drive it across government. Could it be you? ✅Already the new Secretary of State for Business & Trade Jonathan Reynolds MP has indicated his belief that social value in procurement can drive community wellbeing, and improve staff wellbeing and productivity. ✅And his new sidekick the Minister for Business is none other than Douglas Alexander MP, one of our first ministers for corporate responsibility back in the noughties (@the bitc alumni network may remember him!). He championed the role that business can play in society, and spent much of the intervening years in the charity sector. ✅Rachel Reeves’ powerful speech at Anthropy UK talked about the importance of the public private and third sector for the future of Britain. ✅In the MOJ, the appointment of Minister for Prisons @jamestcobbler has already made headlines, as he brings his experience as a compassionate and profitable business leader to the challenges in the justice sector. ✅And if all that is not enough – the call is already out for someone to really help shape our government’s approach on Social Value - and this time - it’s right in the cabinet office. I know there’s some really talented and experienced Social Value professionals out there in my network, who understand the nuances of embedding Social Value in business, and the social value that public procurement can offer to facilitate social change. Wouldn’t it be fab to see a practitioner in this key role? https://lnkd.in/eckMvec6 #socialvalue #socialchange #newministers #responsiblebusiness Social Value UK Bethan Lloyd Olivia Sutcliffe Emma Hope Su Pickerill FICRS Helen Longfils Léyoh Goodall Neil Pearson Louise Townsend FRSA Siân Rebourg (MICRS) Crispen Sachikonye Graham PRECEY Bean Research Ltd Ben Carpenter John O’Brien MBE Cabinet Office julia cleverdon David Grayson Angela Halliday Rosina Watson

Social justice requires that all communities be safe, respected, and treated equitably. Safety is a fundamental human right, and no community can truly thrive without it. Ensuring the safety of all communities means addressing systemic inequalities and providing equal protection under the law. Equality in Protection: All communities must have equal access to law enforcement and justice. This means eliminating racial profiling, bias, and discrimination in policing and the judicial system. When every community is protected fairly, trust in these institutions can be restored and strengthened. Addressing Root Causes: Safety involves more than just protection from crime. It requires addressing the root causes of violence and insecurity, such as poverty, lack of education, inadequate healthcare, and housing instability. By tackling these issues, we create safer environments for everyone. Inclusive Policies: Social justice demands that policies be inclusive and consider the unique needs of diverse communities. This includes creating and enforcing laws that protect marginalized groups from hate crimes, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse. Community Empowerment: Empowering communities through education, economic opportunities, and social services ensures that people have the resources they need to feel secure. Cultural Sensitivity and Respect: Recognizing and respecting the cultural practices and identities of all communities is essential for creating a safe and inclusive society. Collaboration and Solidarity: Achieving social justice requires collaboration and solidarity among all communities. Text "Give Native" to 44-321 to support awareness initiatives like this.
