This week on Aspen Ideas To Go: Nick Kristof in conversation with Kelly Corrigan. “Side by side with the worst of humanity, you always find the very best,” says The New York Times columnist Nick Kristof. He’s spent decades reporting on the ground in war zones and amidst humanitarian nightmares. Despite witnessing atrocities like the Tiananmen Square protests, genocide in Darfur and war in Iraq, Kristof maintains a deep and abiding faith in humankind. In his latest book, a memoir called “Chasing Hope: A Reporter’s Life,” he explains what he’s learned about the pursuit of truth and the power of journalism. Podcast and TV host Kelly Corrigan interviews Kristof about his path from a small rural town in Oregon to a career that has taken him to every corner of the world. https://lnkd.in/gV7kkMkr

Just showcasing my recent interview with Indra Adnan on the 'Politics of Waking Up' We discussed the need for unorthodox approaches to exercise power and create meaningful change in a desperately needed other option than traditional party politics. Where this approach emphasizes the importance of understanding energy and life itself, as well as integrating spirituality with political awareness. We also discussed the urgent need for collective action to address the growing environmental, social, and mental health criises We also highlight the role of unconventional media outlets like The Alternative https://lnkd.in/et8PTq2y (co-founded by Indra) in promoting a new form of politics that prioritizes eco-civilization. Throughout the conversation, we stressed the importance of personal agency and meaning-making, in the face of political powerlessness, and stressed the need for community practices and rethinking media systems to serve local citizens and communities. #wakingup #consciousness #politics #cosmolocal #grassroots

Having worked on the documentary https://lnkd.in/ejzC6fbh about military mental health has allowed me the Privilege to meet many men and women who have served in the Armed Forces. If you are asking people to serve their country, that includes potentially losing their life, then they should expect a few things in return: - Supply them with what they actually need, don't expect their families to send supplies they need for warfare. - Maybe don't come up with BS reasons for a war that turn out to be a false pretense for war. - Maybe have a plan in place to end a war that doesn't involve putting your tail between your legs and leaving those who helped you to deal with the enemy that you promised you would protect them from. - Maybe START ADDRESSING A SUICIDE RATE THAT IS AN OUTRAGEOUSLY higher number than combat deaths. - Maybe start taking care of every Veteran, and their family, who served, without exception, PERIOD! The DoDs problem is it's own. Your behaviors lead to bad press that far out way any ad campaign you can come up with. The newer generations are seeing how you handle the men and women who are currently serving and our Veterans, and they're not impressed. Let's see... make a lot of money on social media or sign up to fight in a war you shouldn't be in, with inferior equipment, to be released from your service with no real reintegration support and the highest suicide rate in the country... don't hear many saying sign me up. We don't have a people problem, we have a leadership problem.

Our leaders know our children are being abuse by the health system - but don't care I have been in contact with our leaders (National, Act and NZ First) for months about the abuse by our health system on gender confused children. So I just send them my last offer for them to do the right thing. Gentleman, I sent you evidence that our gender dysphoric children are being abused by our health system months ago. And given the number of children on puberty blockers has gone from 137 in 2010 to 740 last year there is a obvious problem. This problem is with gender dysphoric girls, who were not a thing prior to 2000, are now over half of those on them. Why? I have asked the MoH and HealthNZ and they don't know and don't care. Its called a gender dysphoria contagion, that have impacted all western countries. But you already know this. Do you also know corporations are the ones funding this movement. See - https://lnkd.in/gruUBqhR Just a heads up now that you have been made aware of this abuse I'm going to start talking about the fact that our politicians, you lot, don't care that the world is moving away from this nonsense since the CASS review and leaks about WPATH. Its abuse and WE ALL now know it. And I see you have stacked the deck by appointing PATHA (trans activists) and Dame Sue Bradford (been pushing transition onto children for years) to the review of puberty blockers. So you want to continue to do it while the rest of the world stops it. And under your watch the number of children being abuse is really ramped up. I see you have secured more money via the 'womens health strategy' to remove the healthy breasts of even more girls. Ironic given your removing the womanhood from girls using money for womens health. Oh course you could do the right thing or ask to talk to me about this abuse. But given you have know about it for months and done nothing I'm not holding my breath. So your now part of the problem for continuing to allow this abuse to happen.

If you had asked Eylon Levy what he would be doing with his degree in Politics Philosophy and Economics in 2023 I can assure you it would NOT be this. The absurdity of the world he has to deal with 24/7 since 10.7.2023 is utterly fucked up. This is the politics and economics of a terrorist organisation and somehow not condemned by the United Nations #stolenfunds #terroristeconomics #politicianshidingintunnels

Excellent Emma Katz, with Rihanot Olabisi Ojo-Oba. In addition to the coercive controllers, I explore the additional types of murderers in my free eBook 'Understanding Family Violence' with a short video '3 Likely Types of Murderers' to demonstrate, www.meredithfuller.com.au
Listen to my latest podcast appearance on THE COUNTER NARRATIVE, co-hosted by Rihanot Olabisi Ojo-Oba I was honoured to talk about coercive control on this exciting new feminist podcast. Hosted by Rihanot Ojo-Oba and Tiaraoluwa Fadeyi, The Counter Narrative seeks to dismantle gender biases and promote inclusivity by challenging prevailing narratives perpetuating gender disparities. Through insightful discussions with experts, they address common misconceptions about women, media representation, and biases present in expert panels. Link: https://lnkd.in/eeBYjrKi 00:00 - Introduction 01:00 - Dr Katz, for our listeners who might be hearing about coercive control for the first time, please shed more light on this topic and tell us about your work in this area. 04:50 - In your book, you mention Evan Stark's argument that our responses to domestic violence often fail victims because they focus solely on physical violence. Can you tell us more about the various forms of abuse that perpetrators use to maintain control without leaving physical evidence? 11:34 - Dr Katz, when abuse happens, society often blames the victim, scrutinising their behaviours and choices. Why do you think this victim-blaming mentality persists, and can you shed light on why abuse occurs in the first place? 13:12 - Given the prevalence of abuse, how can we effectively combat it and better protect women and children from becoming victims or survivors? 21:08 - Before we wrap up, could you share a word of encouragement or positivity for women and children currently facing abuse but unable to leave? 25:20 - Co-Host Discussion and sign out
