As a new board director Wirral Chamber of Commerce and probably the youngest in its 112-year history. I’m determined to look at new ways of working with our businesses and to encourage and support young aspiring business leaders, who will ultimately one day be the future of our economy. So, in the spirit of doing things differently. I decided to join the Royal Mersey Yacht Club and recently took park in a race on the Mersey. We came third! Not for bad for first timer. It was here that was I able to genuinely learn so much about the history of our waterfront, but also see the emerging opportunities that await us on the #LeftBank So in short, don’t be afraid to do things differently. This time last year, the Brisbane Lions faced an agonising 4-point defeat. Their leadership group did what all our clients do after major wins or losses. They held a review. Only once their thoughts, disappointments, and lessons were heard and captured did they focus on how to move forward. The theme of last year’s review? “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰?" It sounds simple. But without a culture of trust and empowerment firmly in place, its impact is easily lost. Building that culture painstakingly over 8 years hasn’t been easy.
