A dry Croke Park.. The GAA is displaying a commendable example of prioritising responsible alcohol consumption over financial gain, especially in the context of their stance on alcohol consumption at sporting events. Unlike the scenarios where American football and Bruce Springsteen concerts at Croke Park allow fans to enjoy alcoholic beverages from their seats, the GAA's approach warrants attention for its forward-thinking stance on public health and safety when it comes to Irish sport. This discrepancy isn't merely about creating a double standard but underscores a deeper commitment to encouraging more responsible alcohol consumption among fans, irrespective of the event when it comes to Irish sport. What rockers or other foreign sports do is not relevant to it. Thems their rules. In not extending the permission to consume alcohol directly in the seating areas to all events, the GAA indirectly supports efforts made elsewhere, like the rugby Principality Stadium in Wales and Twickenham, to offer a more inclusive and comfortable environment for all attendees. It reflects government health policy. Irish rugby choses to ignore this The GAA's stance reflects its values. Rugby had a choice whether to accept these values and are lucky to be allowed to play at Croke Park at all

Ski racing is such a thrilling, challenging sport - you spend so much time training for a (fingers crossed!) short stretch down a hill against others who are running the same course but all have slightly different conditions than you do. I am in awe of Mikaela Shiffrin - her skiing, her composure, her authenticity, her drive, she is so amazing! Last weekend she won her 90th world cup at Killington and gave a lovely, humble, inspiring interview. But it was her comments on focus that *really* resonated with me! How do you perform at the highest level (amidst so much pressure)? Be on point, ride the pressure & passion to push yourself. Don't focus on the win or the finish line - focus on the skiing, each gate, the hill, the turns - identify everything that GETS to the win, and focus on each and every step along the way. In product management I find that when we focus solely on our product bringing in suitcases full of money or the next feature launch, we don't ski a clean run or stick the landing. Instead, we should deeply understand the problem we are solving & corresponding value prop, decompose the steps to get to success and execute each step along the way with precision and confidence. https://lnkd.in/ejJakhAM

When it comes to better ball striking and shooting lower scores on a consistent basis most golfers think that their problem is that they don't hit the ball far enough. Its a mistake to think this way because if you are hitting the ball offline and always in trouble then you never get to score well. On Tuesday I played two competitions at the same time. Before the "purists" come on saying "you can't do that, that's not in the rules", we did - we allow it in our golf society, and have done for years (even though I prefer not to when I can). One was a normal golf competition - 20 players, stableford, all playing against the course, best score wins. The other, matchplay - playing against one other person, quarter final, least shots per hole wins the hole, most hole wins, wins. A bit like you see on the final day of the Ryder Cup.
