We’ve got more lids than your drawer full of Tupperware containers 🤣 Our lids are a little different though and definitely won't get misplaced. The 17-tonne pre-cast lid that’s been lowered onto the deep chamber at our Central Interceptor Hillsborough site won’t be any use to you, but for us it’s a big deal. The chamber that it’s now firmly covering diverts wastewater flows into the shaft. That chamber gives our team access to said shaft to do maintenance on the Central Interceptor tunnel that lies 30-metres underground. And, sticking with the lid theme, across town at our Avondale site, a concrete lid has been gently placed on top of the diversion chamber that redirects wastewater flows from a mini poo tunnel – we call it link sewer C – to the main Central Interceptor tunnel. The main tunnel that all the diversion chambers will connect to is slowly but surely being connected to the local 💩 network. Once that’s done and dusted, the massive tunnel will transport flows of wastewater to Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant for processing. All this mahi will help reduce wet weather overflows into local waterways and onto beaches. You could say, we’re putting a lid on wet weather overflows 👍 Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture (GAJV) #CentralInterceptor #infrastructure #construction #tunnelling #tunnels #tunneling #WaterIndustry #wastewater #team #teamwork #environment #NaturalEnvironment

What is a high water table? 💧 A high water table occurs when the level of groundwater rises to or near the surface, saturating the upper soil layers. This situation arises due to excessive water accumulation beneath the ground, often from heavy rainfall 🌧️ or water seeping down from higher elevations into the surrounding soil 🏞️. Want to learn more about how to deal with high water tables? #Seawalls are vital structures that protect coastal areas from erosion and flooding caused by waves and tides. Traditionally, steel and concrete have been the go-to materials for constructing seawalls due to their durability and strength. However, especially in recent years, #composite #sheetpiling has emerged as a compelling alternative with several distinct advantages. #fiberglass #madeinusa https://lnkd.in/ez5MsCSG

IS 11293: 2018 Standard Title: Guidelines for the Design of Grout Curtains for Dams Published: 2018 Relevance: This standard provides detailed guidelines for the design and construction of grout curtains in dams, aimed at improving their safety and operational efficiency. Grout curtains are essential for controlling seepage, strengthening dam foundations, and enhancing the long-term stability of the structure. The guidelines address critical aspects of grout material selection, injection techniques, and construction procedures, ensuring that grout curtains are effective in preventing leakage and maintaining dam integrity. 💡 Why It Matters: Dams play a crucial role in water storage, flood control, and energy generation, and their safety is of paramount importance. Effective grout curtain design is vital for preventing seepage, which can lead to structural damage or failure. IS 11293: 2018 provides a framework for designing reliable and durable grout curtains, ensuring the safety and sustainability of dams. By following these guidelines, engineers can enhance the stability of dams, reduce maintenance costs, and prevent potential risks related to water leakage. 👉 Stay tuned as we continue to highlight key standards that contribute to the safety and sustainability of water infrastructure! #Hydrometry #WaterResources #BISStandards #Sustainability

Lime-based soil stabilization helps to prevent ❄️ 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 ❄️ (the movement of soil due to ice formation) in roads and foundations. By modifying soil properties, lime creates a stronger, more stable base that resists winter ground movement and enables projects in wintery weather. #LimeSolutions #Infrastructure #WinterMaintenance #Construction

Topmix Permeable: Water-Absorbing Concrete🛣️💧 ✅Topmix Permeable is a highly porous concrete developed by Tarmac, capable of absorbing up to 1,000 liters of water per square meter per minute. It reduces flooding by allowing rainwater to drain directly into the ground or designated storage systems. Designed for low-traffic areas, it also filters contaminants like oil, offering environmental benefits. However, it requires maintenance to prevent blockages and is less durable under heavy use. 🛑Topmix Permeable is generally not suitable for snowy or icy conditions. In areas where sand or salt is used for de-icing, the material can become clogged, reducing its permeability. Additionally, repeated freeze-thaw cycles in snowy climates may damage the porous structure over time, leading to durability concerns. As a result, it is better suited for regions with moderate climates or areas where snow and ice management does not rely on abrasive materials. #FloodControl #SustainableInfrastructure #SmartDrainage #EcoFriendlyMaterials #TopmixPermeable #StormwaterManagement #InnovativeConcrete

DID YOU KNOW? StormLite³ (StormLite cubed) was developed because we were approached repeatedly by Engineers and Drainage Contractors for low vertical profile tanks, to be buried at depths greater than 1 metre and tanks to maximise volume storage in limited space. When you need underground stormwater detention or retention but are constrained by: - limited vertical depth to stormwater discharge point - Requirement for deep burial (up to 2m cover) - Limited space that needs to be store at a large volume of water StormLite³ does it all with its unique design. Excavation Will Be Needed For These 3 Issues Many people think of plumbing as the toilets, sinks, and showers in their homes, but they never stop considering what lies behind these fixtures and how they operate. Indoor plumbing pipes and fixtures must connect to water service lines and a drainage system. Excavation is required for these three situations to enable these connections. 1. Water Lines: Water can be provided by the public municipal water lines or from a well located on the property. The soil between the public supply line or well and the house must be excavated, and a trench must be dug to lay the necessary pipes. A licensed and insured excavator must complete this work to ensure compliance with local regulations. 2. Septic System: Like a well, a septic system is located on an individual's property and used for wastewater disposal. Waste enters a storage tank, where solid waste sinks to the bottom while the liquid is pumped to a drain field and percolates into the soil. Excavation is required to build and connect the septic system to the house via a septic line. 3. Sewer Line: For homes connected to the public sewer system, a sewer line must be buried in the front yard to carry wastewater from the house using the force of gravity. A properly sloped pipe is mandatory and achieved through proper excavation techniques. Looking for excavating services in New Hope? We provide outstanding and reliable excavation services, so give us a call! #Excavation
