Today, on World #Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives of autistic individuals. This year's theme focuses on #autistic voices - ensuring their experiences are heard and understood on a global scale. We've come a long way, but there's still work to do. Let's continue to break down barriers, promote #inclusion, and create a world where everyone can thrive. • Learn more about autism: Educate yourself and others about the autistic experience. • Listen to autistic voices: Share stories and perspectives from autistic individuals. • Celebrate neurodiversity: Embrace the strengths that come with different ways of thinking. Learn what you can do or say to be helpful and supportive: https://lnkd.in/ebmuc72n #WAUD2024

Today, Autistic Pride Day, is about building knowledge, understanding and acceptance for autistic people. We can all contribute to better outcomes for autistic people. Some ideas you could implement include: • Engaging someone with lived experience to come and talk at your workplace or school or university. • Adjusting the work/study environment to accommodate sensory needs- using non fluorescent lighting, encouraging use of headphones, etc • Increasing flexibility in the workplace or study environment. • Providing meeting agendas, interview questions, or other information ahead of time to allow autistic people to process them and formulate responses. I am committing to having more conversations about autism with family, friends, and schools. What are you going to do differently to support autistic people? Reframing Autism have some great resources to get you started.
Happy Autistic Pride Day! 🌈♾️ Today we embrace diversity of all kinds and celebrate Autistic identity and culture with our neurokindred and allies. Autistic Pride Day calls for greater acceptance and inclusion of Autistic people within the broader community. And at Reframing Autism, we call for not only acceptance, but celebration and embracing! Having an annual pride day highlights the strengths and the unique qualities that each Autistic person brings to their communities, and assists the wider community in seeing that each expression of neurodiversity is valuable and valid. Celebrating its 20th year in 2024, Autistic Pride day brings the wider community an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to help shift and change the way that society perceives Autism. We've come a long way, but there's still plenty of work to be done! Reframing Autism thanks you for being part of our wonderful community of neurokindred ❤️ #AskingAutistics: How are you celebrating Autistic Pride Day? I promised a blog post about Autism and co-parenting was on the way, and here it is (thank you for your patience). In this piece, I explore the impact of unidentified Autism on separated families. The problem is not neurodivergence - it’s when we don’t know that it’s there and the alternative, harmful narratives that might have crept in instead. Have a read, let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/g9EzPJvD #HonourAutism #AutismAcceptanceMonth #Neurodiversity #CoparentingCoach #CoparentingHelp #CoparentingCompanion
