AFRICA CAN SURVIVE ON ITS OWN Thanks Dr. Victor Oladokun for sharing. We have EVERY SINGLE THING WE NEED IN AFRICA. But enemies within and without are constantly raging and waging all sorts of wars and a lot needs to be done among the leadership and followership as some of these people also intentionally and inadvertently hamper the growth and development of this great continent. Leopold II of Belgium killing and maiming over 50 million people in Congo as a result of rubber harvesting halved the country's population within two decades while bringing Leopold a fortune of more than $1 billion (in today's terms). How do you 'own' a whole country and its people as a private venture from 1885 to 1908? How long will it take such a country to even recover from generational trauma and devastation as a result of so much wickedness and destruction? That's just one country among 54 and that's just one natural resource in that blessed country. I do hope we truly look inside, come together and work for for the betterment of our continent. It has to be done by us. No external 'saviour' is coming to liberate us with their 'aids' and loans that have become traps and keep 'enslaving' the countries in this great continent. As long as we don't look inwards, our leaders keep begging and allowing themselves to be used for different kinds of gains, or work together and if we keep seeking validation only from those who colonized the different countries they shared like it was their property, there will never be true freedom and progress in this continent. For over a year, I’ve carried a passion to reach young people across Africa—something deeply rooted in my own experience growing up. Many African youths lack proper guidance to navigate their career paths, leading to a society that struggles to progress despite having the world's largest youth population. In economics, a young labor force is key to driving growth, yet Africa is not fully harnessing this potential. We often see young people in Asia excelling in sports, innovation, and the humanities. They aren’t different from us—they just have access to proper guidance and a growth-oriented mindset. This realization sparked my journey to take action. For the past five months, I’ve worked tirelessly to bring an idea to life that I’m now proud to share with the world: BuildMinds Africa. At BuildMinds Africa, we believe in the power of mindset to shape the future of our continent. By focusing on the individual, we aim to raise a generation of transformative leaders who can rewrite the long-standing narrative that Africa’s core problem is poor leadership.
