His expertise shed light on the necessity for technical assistance and innovative financial mechanisms to bridge the funding gaps that persist in developing regions. 🔹 The panel discussion, led by Funmi Akinluyi, of Delphos, was a deep dive into how innovative vs. traditional financing models are implemented and the critical role of impact investing. The discussion covered a range of financial tools, including Social Impact Bonds and Mezzanine Funding, which are crucial for fostering sustainable development. 🔹 We also discussed powerful case studies like SOKOFRESH and MOBILITY FOR AFRICA, demonstrating the tangible impact of innovative financing on the ground. These projects not only support sustainable growth but also empower local communities, particularly in challenging environments. Most reviews on challenge prizes as mechanisms for spurring or scaling innovation tend to focus on high-income countries, but this report shifts the spotlight to low- and middle-income nations. What really resonates with me is the report’s focus on how prizes can impact broader innovation ecosystems. Often, we concentrate on technology-, entrepreneur-, or startup-level outcomes, without considering how these prizes may shape the contexts in which they operate. Applications for the "Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future Program - Asia Pacific" are open until July 21! 👇 The Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future Program, led by Schneider Electric Foundation (SEF) and under the aegis of Fondation de France as well as Ashoka Changemaker Companies, aspires to select the most impactful and innovative youth-serving projects in one of the 5 continents. This year’s global call for contributions is centered on the idea of Just Transition. 5 projects per continent will be selected, amounting to 25 ideas in total. In each continent, the best project will receive the 1st prize of 30k euros, the second one 20k euros, the third and the fourth 10k euros each and the last spot will see an amount of 5k euros. It was so energising to be part of the peer learning session. A key takeaway was that for business to achieve their 2030 sustainablily ambitions they will need to capitalise on the energy and skills of their gen z and millennial leaders. We mapped out several strategies on how this can be achieved.
