Bescura update! As part of our commitment to supporting charitable initiatives, Aspire has been providing funding to Bescura Family Hubb, at Port Vale Football Club, a not-for-profit organisation that supports families, children of all ages, and members of the local community of Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas. The Hubb is a 'one-stop shop' where individuals can access family support, drop-in sessions, training courses, information, and advice. Our Corporate Responsibility Workstream has liaised closely with the management at Bescura to understand their needs and to ensure our support provides maximum benefit to all those who rely on their services. Recently, Bescura shared an update on how our funding has been used so far and the impact it has had on what they can offer to the community: - During the summer holidays, children and their parents had free access to a range of fun activities, including sensory storyteller sessions for babies and toddlers, arts and creative sessions, and a superhero morning. - The sensory room at Bescura is an amazing space for young babies and for children and adults with additional needs, but the equipment is delicate and has a relatively short shelf life. Bescura has been able to purchase new equipment to keep this important facility functioning. - Bescura operates a baby bank for local families, providing them with essential items and equipment to keep their babies safe and well. With over 1,000 items per month requested, Aspire’s funding has helped to maintain supplies to this critical service. During winter, Bescura expects demand for their services to increase. Aspire is committed to helping them meet this need and looks forward to supporting them, fostering a positive partnership that can make a real difference to a local community. #CultureTalentExcellence #AspireCharity #AspireScientific #AspireCorporateResponsibility #MedComms [Image description for accessibility: On the right of the image on a blue background with a large orange circle, are photos of a baby dressed in a red stripey babygro and surrounded by soft toys, the sensory room at Bescura including a multicoloured rug and bubble tube, and the logos for Aspire Scientific and Bescura Family Hubb. We've Achieved Carbon Neutral+ Status for Another Year! For the third consecutive year, we’ve achieved Carbon Neutral+ status! This milestone underscores our commitment to minimising our impact on the environment. Through thoughtful energy management and carbon offsetting via support for climate projects, we’re not just balancing the scales - we’re actively making a positive impact on the environment. What does Carbon Neutral+ mean? It means we've offset 25% MORE than our total carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner, healthier planet. All of our business travel is offset, as is the energy we use in our offices, and the energy used to power our company vehicles (and more). To offset 125% of our carbon emissions in 2024, we've invested in the Arca hydro electric power plant in Turkey, providing affordable and clean energy, and reducing CO2 emissions in the region. Huge thanks to our Corporate Responsibility workstream members who continue to assess and manage our carbon offsetting process and other environmental initiatives. #CultureTalentExcellence #AspireCorporateResponsibility #CarbonNeutralPlus #MedComms (Descriptive text for people who use screen readers: On a dark blue background with transparent orange circles, is a white logo with a foot icon inside a circular arrow, reading ‘carbon footprint standard™ Carbon Neutral+ Organisation’. We’re delighted that one of our team members, Kristian Clausen, MPH, CMPP, recently underwent training with EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY UK LIMITED to become certified as an EDI Champion as part of her work on our Corporate Responsibility workstream. “Considering the impacts of equity, diversity and inclusion is important in any workplace. However, it is particularly important in medical communications, where it is crucial to be unbiased in our writing and carefully consider the language we use in our work, as it will ultimately impact patients’ lives.” (Kristian) #CultureTalentExcellence #PeopleFirstAspire #AspireScientific #AspireCorporateResponsibility #MedComms #ProfessionalDevelopment #MedicalCommunications #EquityDiversityInclusion [Descriptive text for people who use screen readers: The image shows the white Aspire Scientific logo over a large orange circle. Yesterday, our team (and their pets) were challenged to find something orange in their wardrobes to wear in support of our charity partner Once Upon a Smile, a children’s bereavement charity, in recognition of #WorldSmileDay. It turns out Sidley, the charity’s favourite bear and mascot, loves anything orange. The team did their ‘zest’ to make others smile with their bright outfits, and #AspireScientific have donated £10 for every orange outfit worn, raising a total of £220 for Once Upon a Smile! See if you can make someone smile today for World Smile Day! #CultureTalentExcellence #AspireWellbeing #MedComms #ActsofKindness #AspireCorporateResponsibility #AspireCharity [Descriptive text for people who use screen readers: The image shows the white Aspire Scientific logo over a large orange circle. To mark #NationalInclusionWeek (23–29 September), our team recently participated in a thought-provoking discussion around Inclusive Communication led by Baljit Singh from Inclusive Employers. We discussed how to enhance our inclusive language skills and how the environments we have been exposed to as individuals can, at times, influence our communication. The team also shared examples of how they have used inclusive language both in and out of work, and ways in which inclusive language is related to patient-centred writing in medical communications. #CultureTalentExcellence #NIW24 #PeopleFirstAspire #AspireScientific #MedComms #ProfessionalDevelopment #MedicalCommunications #EquityDiversityInclusion [Descriptive text to aid accessibility: The image shows the white Aspire Scientific logo over a large orange circle.
