In an exclusive gathering for Chief Sustainability Officers, we delved deep into crucial subjects like the changing ESG rating landscape in India, and the need to embrace sustainability standards and metrics, underlining the role of quality data for better sustainability-focused capital deployment. We also shared perspectives on the evolving workforce skills and green jobs and the need to address the current skill gap to unleash the potential of the green job economy. Engaging with influencers and experts in the sustainability domain was incredibly invigorating. The cherry on top? Exploring the sustainability-led innovations of young entrepreneurs – a truly inspiring experience that added an extra layer of excitement to the entire journey. WSDS became a hub of innovation, uniting key stakeholders to brainstorm and act on the climate agenda. I have posted about the UN’s 17 Sustainability Development Goals but until recently I was unaware of the “Inner Development Goals” Inner Development Goals (IDGs) is a non-profit organization for inner development. The IDGs framework is fundamental in the work to reach the Sustainable Development Goals, they claim! The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) give us a comprehensive plan for a sustainable world by 2030 There is a vision of what needs to happen, but progress has so far been disappointing. Do we lack the inner capacity to deal with our complex environment and challenges? There are 5 dimensions with 23 skills and qualities 1. Being — Relationship to Self Cultivating our inner life developing and deepening our relationship to our thoughts, feelings and body help us be present, intentional and non-reactive when we face complexity Inner compass, Integrity and Authenticity, Openness and Learning mindset, Self-awareness and Presence 2. Thinking — Cognitive Skills Develop cognitive skills by taking different perspectives, evaluating information and making sense of the world as an interconnected whole is essential for wise decision-making Critical thinking, Complexity awareness, Perspective skills, Sense-making, Long-term orientation and Visioning 3. Relating — Caring for Others and the World Appreciating, caring for and feeling connected to others, such as neighbours, future generations or the biosphere, helps us create more just, sustainable systems and societies for everyone Appreciation, Connectedness, Humility, Empathy and Compassion 4.
