Hey everyone, I wanted to highlight this incredible challenge that my client is taking on for a fantastic cause! They're tackling the Lake District Mighty Hike, a 26-mile adventure filled with stunning views and lots of potential blisters, all in under 12 hours in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. This cause is close to many of us, as we've all known someone who has been impacted and needed support from Macmillian. Ashley Anderson, MCIPD, MCIPD, you've got this! You and Raff will smash it.

WHAT IS MS? Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. WHY WE WALK: Walk MS unites the MS community in the largest gathering of its kind to raise funds and make a difference for everyone living with MS. Our community has raised over $1 billion to fuel the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s mission to cure MS while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives. While there are many ways to participate in Walk MS – from in-person events to designing your own event-day experience – all routes lead to a world free of MS. IMPACT AND MISSION: Walk MS gets us closer to our ultimate goal: a cure. WHY AM I INVOLVED: A family member was diagnosed with MS in 2022, and I continue to learn about the facts and treatments with each new day. I'm hopeful as I read that breakthroughs are being made as time progresses. I’m coming together with thousands of people across the country at Walk MS to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society because a cure is on the line. Now is the time to do everything we can for the nearly 1 million people living with MS in the United States. I am doing my part as the event sets up in Virginia Beach this Sunday, April 7th. I have set an ambitious fundraising goal, and with your support, I know I can achieve it. The Society is the best investment to solve the challenges of MS - with information, connections and support as well as a global network to achieve a cure. This year’s new Walk MS experience will showcase why it’s so important for people with MS to be surrounded by the care and understanding of their support system. New Circles of Support will give participants the opportunity to share their place in the MS movement – as someone living with MS, someone who loves and supports a person living with MS or someone who supports the Society’s mission. Thank you so much for whatever you can give. No amount is too small and every gift of support is deeply appreciated. The link to donate is below. Either click on it or copy and paste it onto your web browser, please--in order to give online. I appreciate you. https://lnkd.in/eEBDBAjt

In memory of Pulchery Thelusma, I am sharing her story to promote awareness about #colorectalcancer. I first met Pulchery almost 20 years ago at Georgetown University #HoyaSaxa. Her warm smile and genuine kindness touched everyone she met. A devoted mental health professional and mother, Pulchery recently passed away at just 37 years old, leaving behind her 8-year old son. Her tragic loss highlights three critical actions we all can take: 1. Stay Connected: Regularly check in with friends, colleagues, and classmates. It's vital to support each other, as we never know the challenges someone may be facing. 2. Prioritize Health: Early detection saves lives. Please schedule regular #cancerscreenings. 3. Support Cancer Research: To those in the field of cancer research, therapeutics development, and care, your efforts are crucial. Keep pushing for advancements and be relentless for patients. To help Pulchery’s family during this difficult time, please consider donating through a GoFundMe organized by our dear friend, Josephine Mazyck. Your support can make a difference.

Good morning, I've been always saying that health body = health mind (and opposite). If you want to stay wealthy, you have to take care of yourself physically and mentally! Therefore, I've decided to join the challenge #3000pushupsnovember. 100 push ups per day. lt was actually Alejandro de Castro Ferraz who asked me, if I want to join. Being absolutely honest with you, I will always say that every excuse is good to give yourself a reason to do it. My first was, yeah let's get better shape. I decided to join straight away and then I saw powerful message from other friend of mine on on his sm '(...)I am taking part in 3,000 Push Ups in November for Teenage Cancer Trust. This November, I will be completing 3,000 Push Ups in a month. That's on average 100 Push Ups a Day! ' Every £25 donation provides an hour to talk. A Youth Support Coordinator provides the extra help young people need with things like studies, relationships and mental wellbeing throughout cancer treatment. £25 could pay for an hour of their time, helping them be there when they're needed most(...) I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. PROSTATE CANCER Globally, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men. Over 10 million men around the world are living with or beyond a prostate cancer diagnosis. When cells in the prostate multiply too quickly and grow out of control, this creates a cancerous tumour. Often, this type of cancer grows slowly and doesn’t cause big problems right away. Sometimes, however, prostate cancer can be fast-growing and spread to other parts of the body, causing major damage. Catching cancer early, so that your doctor can keep an eye on it and recommend next steps, is ideal. If the cancer is caught later, you may still have options to work through with your healthcare team that put your quality of life first. Prostate is particularly common in men over 50. If you’re 50 or over, it’s important to talk to your GP about keeping yourself healthy and any ongoing tests you may need as part of your health check-ups. If you have a family history of prostate cancer or sub-Saharan African ancestry, you need to start that conversation earlier at 40 to 45. Guidelines can be different, depending on where you live — so check with your doctor. MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE PREVENTION Globally, on average, we lose one man to suicide every minute of every day. That’s half a million men every year. The issue of suicide is incredibly complex. But we know this: improving overall mental health and helping men establish better social connections can reduce the risk of suicide. Simple steps to important conversations A conversation can change, maybe even save, a life. Ask, Start by asking how they’re feeling. It’s worth mentioning any changes you’ve picked up on – like spending more time at the bar or they’ve gone quiet in the group chat. Listen. Give them your full attention, no distractions. Let them know you’re hearing what they’re saying and you’re not judging. Encourage action. Help them focus on simple things that might improve how they feel. Are they getting enough sleep? Exercising and eating well? Have they got others in their life that they trust to speak with? If they’ve felt low for more than two weeks, suggest that they chat to their doctor. Check in. Suggest you catch up soon – in person if you can. This helps to show that you care; plus, you’ll get a feel for whether they’re feeling any better.

Supporting survivors, patients, caregivers, through sharing stories, symptoms, information, and coping strategies.
Cancer is a big issue in North America, especially in the black community where it's the number one cause of death most of the time. Many people hesitate to talk openly about it, which can make things even harder. But you don't have to face cancer alone. It's tough, and it can bring mental stress, depression, and feelings of isolation. Speaking up and sharing your experiences can make a big difference. You're not alone, and there are people who care about you. Joining a support group can be a huge help. Africa Cancer Support Group is here for you, whether you're a caregiver, survivor, patient, or health professional. Together, we can make the journey a little easier. Your involvement matters. Join us in breaking the silence around cancer in the black community. Hey LinkedIn souls I’m not sure if this is breaking the rules of LinkedIn etiquette but sometimes you need to learn where the line is by giving it a nudge. This weekend here in Wellington, NZ I am participating in the Relay for Life. It’s a 24 hr event where teams walk/run to raise money for cancer. A lot of you will know my friend Simon Hayes and his fight with this shitty disease. One of the things that has been really enlightening (or frightening…) is how hard some of the services are to navigate especially for those without support structures or family. It’s hard enough just the health battle but if you add in the fact bills need to be paid, work needs to get done, time is even shorter if you are trying to jam in all these “normal things” to a recovery journey. When my dad died 23 years ago I think I was completely overwhelmed by the impact that basic humanity can have on someone’s journey. There are phenomenal people doing amazing things but with limited resources. Unfortunately it means that the same people who fall through societies gaps are the ones that most need these services. So Helen and I have decided to make a contribution by participating in the relay for life next weekend. We would really appreciate your support and more crucially your wallets. The whole purpose is not symbolic it’s practical it’s getting the services and the people the tools and resources they need to help our friends and family members when the need it. So please click the link. Read the stuff and fill the digital bucket. What you will get is an overwhelming sense of “doing good” hopefully that will turn into good karma. What I will get as well as the joy of participating is sore feet. My intention is to walk as much of the whole 17 hours as I can because my friend Simon doesn’t get to tag others in to his fight. If you do want to join in or just come down and soak in all the atmosphere then we would love to have you there. Just sing out if you want to know more or have any questions. Other wise please make it rain💰💰💰💰💰 in the link below. We are officially the smallest team in the event with a grand total of two. We would love to have a huge global team behind us. Ps you don’t need to donate to our team directly you can donate to the event or the National agency. If your kids are participating give them some more $$ 😬👌💰. If you are not in NZ there are a lot of similar events so get your google fingers working to find the relevant charity near you. Cheers S https://lnkd.in/g-QYzfs4

There really is no better time to support our charity. Research is key to developing new treatments and to finding a cure for those affected by NF2. With your help we can fund vital research and change the lives of adults and children affected by NF2 but we cannot do it without your support. NF2 is a rare genetic disorder affecting approximately 1/35,000 children & adults globally across all races, ethnicity, and genders. Patients are born with NF2. NF2 results in the growth of multiple tumours throughout the central (brain/spine) and peripheral (organs/limbs) nervous systems, including schwannomas, meningiomas, and ependymomas. Our research will help combat the growth of Vestibular Schwannomas and Meningiomas, improving wellbeing and quality of life enabling those affected to live their life without fear or anxiety of where the next tumour will grow. You can support our charity by donating, getting involved in fundraising, or simply following us on social media.
