Are you aware of History of Assembly Lines? How it disrupted the modern Manufacturing Industries? The History of Assembly lines dates back to the early 19th Century when the development of machine tools and tool path control made interchangeable parts a practical reality. Early Developments: * In the early 19th century, advancements in machine tools like the screw-cutting lathe and milling machine laid the foundation for interchangeable parts, a key element of modern assembly lines. *The meatpacking industry in Chicago is believed to be one of the first industrial assembly lines, where workers stood at fixed stations as a pulley system brought meat to them for processing. Evolution in the 20th Century: * Ransom Olds patented the assembly line concept in 1901, significantly increasing production at his Oldsmobile factory. * Henry Ford further revolutionized assembly lines by introducing moving conveyor belts at Ford Motor Company, drastically reducing production time and costs. * Ford's implementation of the moving assembly line for the Model T in 1913 marked a turning point in manufacturing efficiency, allowing for mass production and lower prices.

Consistency is one of the determining factors behind success. Consistently producing strong bonds is not just down to the glue you use... Discover how the Four Pillars of Bonding Success can help you achieve bonding success.
Strong glue = Strong bond… Right? The answer is actually no. Consistent bonding is dependent on four factors We call them ‘The Four Pillars of Bonding Success’ Consistent quality is difficult in industrial manufacturing. But ensuring these four pillars are in place will help maximise the chances of consistent bonding quality. Take a read of this article which explains these four pillars in much more detail. https://lnkd.in/gtJhgAaa

Meet the MiddleGrounders behind the magic - Zach Jackson, Vice President #Operations Team. His superpowers are: 🔁 Creating efficient #process flows (whether that's at one facility or across dozens) 💵 Understanding the value of a dollar 😉 His winning personality! His prior experience makes visualizing efficient processes second nature. During his time with Toyota, he was responsible for managing model changes for the Camry, which meant reworking tooling, quality checks, plant floor operations... and pretty much everything else. Fast forward to MiddleGround. When he inherited Shiloh Industries facilities, he led the team to review the layout and removed 28% of the conveyor systems. 28% is HUGE time savings. On top of that, he significantly cut downtime for battery tray production! A leak proofing solution requires 3 hours to cure, previously the process was to apply terosone, wait 3 hours, then quality test. Now, that solution is applied earlier on so that it cures by the time the part is ready for quality! And all along the way, he brings the perspective of someone who has owned their own business. He understands the value of a dollar always aims to be cash flow neutral. In his words: "KEEP YOUR FINGER ON THE PULSE OF EXPENSES!" #privateequity

"Automotive assembly is one of the pinnacles of modern manufacturing, having a very complex product of 30 000 parts as well as mass production in large quantities. The modern automotive moving assembly line is hence one of the most complex manufacturing operations in the world." Without the Chicago meatpacking industry, America might never have developed a middle class or won World War 2. Why? It inspired the assembly line and revolutionized modern manufacturing. In this episode of Johan Norberg’s New and Improved, Norberg shares the story. Inspired by conveyor belts that moved beef during processing, Henry Ford implemented one for assembling cars using prefabricated parts. The time to build a Ford went from a day and a half to 93 minutes. Finished cars were soon coming off the line every three minutes! The assembly line supercharged American manufacturing, leading to victory in both world wars. That same productivity led to lower consumer prices, higher wages, and an overall improved quality of life. America’s middle class was literally built on the assembly line.

Automotive assembly is one of the pinnacles of modern manufacturing, having a very complex product of 30 000 parts as well as mass production in large quantities. The modern automotive moving assembly line is hence one of the most complex manufacturing operations in the world. In this two-post series I will look at how this changed over time, and the different ways there are to move cars along the assembly line. #allaboutlean #operationalexcellence #leanmanufacturing #leansixsigma
