This appreciation post is fashionably a few months late but gratitude never goes out of style. To the brilliant lecturers at the University of Surrey’s Tourism, Hospitality & Events team, a massive thank you for your guidance, wisdom, and endless patience. You didn’t just teach me how to manage hotels—you showed me how to tackle challenges with confidence (and occasionally, a strong cup of coffee). Your wisdom, passion, and support has not only shaped me as a professional but as a person too. Thank you for being a part of my adventure; I couldn’t have asked for better guides, to help me navigate the world of hospitality. Now, onto the next chapter—because in hospitality, the doors never stop opening! #ProudtobeSurrey #Hospitality #Classof2024 #Management #Graduate

Well, just have to say it as it is, excluding Te Huia from Auckland timetabling decisions, fixing a 5-year trial & then only funding half of it, changing performance targets half-way through the trial, & initially truncating the route...is just not giving Te Huia a fair go. Finish the trial and give it a fair run. https://lnkd.in/druP855C

This why the country needs an unified national public transport network for: - to remove the current regionalisation and commercialism for public transport services - allowing city, district and regional councils to plan better public transport services with less bureaucratic procurement and funding processes - providing dedicated funding for public transport services and infrastructure - standardised national procurement and operational guidelines, employment contracts, working conditions, etc for public transport services - creating more connected public transport services between regions and greater utilisation of public transport assets such as buses and passenger trains Te Huia should't be everybody's whipping boy for bad planning, funding and by Auckland Transport, neoliberal libertarian minded local and central government politicians and nimbyism.

I do think that the train traveling is easy than the plan traveling.
China has an extensive high-speed railway network. However, it's not always easy for international visitors to travel in China by train. For example, the official ticket booking system is not particularly friendly for international visitors. Recently, I published a video on a (business class) train trip that I made together with my two daughters during our current two-week summer holiday in China (which began on 2 August). In this video, I explained some key differences between travelling by train in China and doing so in many European countries. Hopefully, these explanations will be useful to international viewers that are considering visiting China or that are interested in knowing more about the railway system in China. https://lnkd.in/enCN6fWM
