With proxy season in the rear view mirror, companies should take stock of lessons learned. One element to (always) consider is your ESG rating. "Good Governance as a concept is a well-known but often underweighted component of the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) equation. Our contention is that without good governance we cannot expect adherence to the E and the S." – Steven Barrett Our recent publication (link below), "Annual Rebalancing Update for the Good Governance Market Neutral Strategy," offers insights into the influence of corporate governance on stock performance within the S&P 500. Conducted by our research partners at GreenBlue Invest, the analysis shows that well-governed companies consistently outperform their peers, particularly during times of market uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of strong governance in achieving positive financial and ESG outcomes. https://lnkd.in/gdq8wFmz #liquidalternatives #USEquity #ESG

Some interesting conclusions in this new paper from my colleague Maya Beyhan, including the importance of human capital.

Since its inception more than five years ago, the S&P 500 ESG Index outperformed the S&P 500 by 1.62% on an annualised excess total return basis. This performance was driven by an array of factors: 1️⃣ seeking the best ESG-scoring constituents with medium ESG momentum scores, 2️⃣ electing constituents with high Human Capital Development and Talent Attraction & Retention scores, 3️⃣ while also avoiding the worst ESG-scoring constituents with high ESG momentum scores.
