ABP News Release: Secretary of State for Energy and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, opens ABP’s Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) Today, we were honored to welcome Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, to officially open the Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) at ABP's Port of Lowestoft. This transformative £35 million project is a testament to ABP's commitment to cementing Lowestoft as a hub for the region’s offshore energy industry. LEEF features state-of-the-art port infrastructure, expanded quay space, and deep-water berthing, all designed to support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities and construction support for the offshore energy industry. Henrik Lundgaard Pedersen, ABP Chief Executive Officer, remarked, “This facility is a physical example of ABP’s commitment to enabling the energy transition. Ports are a crucial foundation, not just for delivering the energy transition, but also for realising investment and jobs for the UK.” Ed Miliband added, “Our mission to become a clean energy superpower is about attracting investment into local communities, creating new jobs, and delivering energy security for families and businesses. The Port of Lowestoft shows that this unstoppable clean energy transition is underway.” During his visit, Ed Miliband also toured North Star’s hybrid electric service operation vessel (SOV), Grampian Tweed, and ScottishPower Renewables’ control room for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm. We are proud to play a pivotal role in the UK’s clean energy revolution and look forward to continuing our work in partnership with industry to deliver jobs, opportunity, and prosperity for Lowestoft and beyond. Do not understand why any company would advertise the visit of Ed Miliband, his absurd net zero obsession will do nothing but harm to the UK economy

Great to have the minister visit LEEF today, accompanied by Jess Asato MP and the weather seemed to keep relatively dry! This project is a great example of what is possible, with private and government focus and investment. We should also remember the great assistance from #EastSuffolkCouncil for their amazing support!

We are delighted to have been involved in this prestigious project with ABP at Lowestoft.
