Job hunters are doing their homework and comparing benefits like pros. Top of their wish list? 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (because work-life balance - not cash - is king), 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬. Pro tip: Lead with a standout benefits package, and you might just see those job offers accepted faster.

For Women’s History Month, we’re recognizing the successes and achievements of BARDA employees. Meet Connie Song, Lead Contract Specialist, Division of Contract Management and Acquisitions. One of Connie’s greatest career achievements to date is having the opportunity to support the BARDA mission and working with such a talented and dedicated group. She added, “specifically providing contracting support to the Division of Research, Innovation and Ventures (DRIVe) in launching new and novel program initiatives.” Connie’s advice to young women who are just starting their professional careers is: “stay true to yourself and pursue your passions. Those incremental steps (some of which will feel like steps backwards) toward achieving every goal you set out to tackle is part of the experience that makes those more challenging moments worthwhile — there’s no failure in learning.” Women strengthen public health and national security with their dedication to meaningful work. 2023 was quite the year! As we close out some words that come to mind in reflection are innovation, adaptability, community, and teamwork. We worked on innovative projects, remained flexible and focused when encountering change, centered the community in our initiatives and did so alongside each other, our community partners, and our neighbors.
