Fostering global collaboration in rare disease research is something we strive for. We have been able to realize this in the CDKL5 Registry, built on the Pulse platform. By recognizing cultural differences and making it available in 10 different languages, we have been able to bring in participants from nearly 50 countries. This has allowed us to capture high-quality data in a way that can improve the lives of patients, their families and the advocacy groups we partner with. In honor of the CDKL5 Forum kicking off later this month, we want to share a video featuring our Founder & CEO Dr. Femida Gwadry-Sridhar and the Chief Scientific Officer from the LOULOU FOUNDATION Dr. Dan Lavery that was shared at the 2023 Forum. They discussed aspects of the CDKL5 Registry design such as: · Why the registry is patient-facing · Measures taken to reduce time to enter data for caregivers and parents · The focus on patient data that is difficult to capture in a clinical setting Despite CDKL5 being a rare condition, there is a large and passionate community of advocates across the world working to improve the lives of patients and their families. You can learn more about the different groups that are part of the CDKL5 Alliance from their profiles below: HOPE4HARPER, CDKL5 Insieme verso la cura, CDKL5 Deutschland e.V. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced yesterday that the Preeclampsia Foundation’s Take 10 for Preeclampsia Research program has been selected as a top 10 finalist in its Build Underserved Populations (UP) Trust Challenge. The national competition seeks to identify and support new and promising community-based strategies that leverage engagement to build trust and help increase participation by historically underserved populations (UP) in disease research and the adoption of medical care to detect, treat, and monitor diseases, conditions, and disorders. The Take 10 for Preeclampsia Research program, launched in May 2023, serves as a call-to-action designed by and for Black women to share their birth experiences with researchers through their enrollment in the foundation’s Preeclampsia Registry. As a Build UP Trust Challenge finalist, the Take 10 program will receive $45,000 to fuel engagement activities to reach communities hardest hit by adverse outcomes and encourage women to share their experiences: https://lnkd.in/efxGZC7P #AllInToTake10 #BlackMamasMatter #MaternalHealth

Please register and repost! I am honored to be co-chairing (with Shiriki Kumanyika and Jamie Chriqui) this very exciting and relevant workshop on obesity-related policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) research in the US. This is a collaborative effort from NIH, the CDC, and @NCCOR. The workshop will examine best practices in obesity-prevention research with specific attention to community engagement and systems change through an equity lens. The workshop aims to advance the field by highlighting opportunities for the design and rigorous evaluation of both proximal and distal PSE interventions. https://shorturl.at/hDEWX
Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Obesity-Related Policy, Systems, and Environmental Research in the US (OPUS) Workshop. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

Nurse, Policymaker, and Executive Director of The Institute for Policy Solutions at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
It’s a fact that nurse scientists are leading the development and evaluation of impactful community health interventions designed to eliminate health inequities. That’s why I’m excited to share this methods paper that was published in Preventions Science. In the proposed manuscript, the team (Marco Thimm-Kaiser, Adam Benzekri, Celia Johnson, Desiree Williams, Nash Wilhelm-Hilkey, Melody Goodman, and Holly Hagan) and I address the importance of developing a strong cadre of effective multilevel interventions to eliminate the impacts of unjust social processes, such as structural racism and other harmful social determinants of health (SDOH), on health inequities in the U.S. We outline two ways to bring attention to this gap: 1️. By introducing a heuristic framework to inform decisions in multilevel intervention development, study design, and selection of analytic methods. 2️. By providing a roadmap for future applications of the framework in multilevel intervention research through an exemplar application using the ongoing NIH-funded evaluation study of the Nurse-Community-Family Partnership (NCFP) intervention. I am pleased to share with you the publication of my work evaluating a patient reminder system implemented in health facilities in Haiti six years ago. Through this work, my team and I aimed to assess the effectiveness of the reminder system in a context of socio-political crisis. To meet our objectives, we used appointment data from patients aged 15 years and older between January 2021 and November 2023 from four healthcare centers in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. We performed descriptive analysis, crossing covariates with appointment attendance. We performed Pearson's Chi-squared test, and multivariate regression analysis using a mixed-effect logistic regression model in order to explore the association between sending reminders and appointment attendance, with and without adjustment for other patient-level covariates. The findings are quite interesting. I invite you to take a look: https://lnkd.in/eRXW--25 Special thanks to our co-authors.
