While this isn't our Bell Pharmacy, I can attest that those reimbursement amounts are reflective of what we, along with every other #independentpharmacy deal with every day. As long as #pbms continue to be allowed to hold financial interests in their own #pharmacies ? Patients, prescribers, & #pharmacists alike will continue to suffer. The only solution to the "Big 3 PBM" problem is for the #ftc to intervene & break up this cartel. PBMs must be stripped out of the drug/device dispensing business alltogether & returned to their original role as insurance processors. What more do we need to see?

#Canada being also a very small big country ( yes very small big ) low population with huge geography area is a preferred place for big players , they love to kill competition and control the market : price ,wage , service , law , political decision, advocacy bodies , schools of pharmacy, immigration laws ..etc #pbms are not a free market strategy, it is a monopoly strategy that fits non compliance with competition laws ,

Of course, the main reason for this happening once again is the negative impact that the large PBM's have had and continue to have. For years, we have advocated that independent pharmacies and local employer groups work directly with each other, bypassing the large PBM's. Recently there was a stir because Tyson Foods, for their 140,000 employees, cut ties with Caremark whom they replaced with a small independent PBM. This gives Tyson lower costs, more autonomy, more information, and more flexibility with their plan. This was portrayed as some potential shot across the bow game changer. Well, we have been doing this for small and medium size groups for over 20 years. We have shown both forward-thinking independent pharmacies along with forward-thinking local employers that there are insurance resources available that affords employers and pharmacies the option to work directly with each other. It continues to puzzle me as to how difficult it has been for us to just get people to listen to what can be done. In my opinion, the best, least costly, most effective method to neutralize the PBM effect is to take the business away from them. This accomplishes a whole lot more, much more quickly than trying to change anything from the top down with lawyers, lobbyists, politicians, lawsuits, etc. Everything starts from the ground up anyway. If this business is taken away from the large PBM’s at the local level from the ground up, there is immediate positive impact all the way around. As a former employer who got angry enough to decide that I wasn’t going to continue to be exploited by these large insurance companies and their surrogate middlemen, I learned that there are better ways and methods to dealing with large insurance related institutions than just getting quote every year. We are actively seeking to collaborate with pharmacies and groups to bring about change. We would like for you to get to know us, our methods, and our advocacy. Contact us.
